Even for several years after I met my husband, who is a shooter, I would not partake in any activities that involved firearms. He insisted that I know how to see if his pistols were in safe mode and would share stories from his NRA magazines with me. I stil had no interest until the LA riots sparked by the Rodney King verdict. The non-hysterical presentation of the pro-2nd Amendment viewpoint and those riots changed my mind on the issue. I did not change my mind because someone was bellowing hot air in my face, belittling my prior opinion and saying it was wrong. I will never change my opinion on a subject if the opposing viewpoint is being screamed and bullied at me.

I lived close enough to LA to see the smoke rising from the buildings, for all we knew, the rioters were going to branch out to close suburbs. I actually felt safe knowing we had a means to defend ourselves from people bent on causing damage, destruction and murder.
