Got it now or do you want more 'cases' of justified child killing? Yes, the world can be a terrible, brutal place sometimes.

That's like TOT times 10!

However, since you want to act ridiculous and misinterpret things simply for the sake of getting some attention like a 10 year old, I'll go ahead and explain this to you word for word, just like I do with my 5th graders: should any adult threaten to bodily hurt a child for everyday, run of the mill child-to-child issues? There - are you happy now, or do I need to placate you more? My job is hard enough already, trying to keep the peace between a bunch of 10-11 year olds in order to teach them. I don't need ADULTS going off the deep end because little Joe got pushed over on the playground. I shouldn't have to worry about protecting my students from parents. <<Have patience, remember that most of the parents are learning how to deal with things too.>> CarolinaDad, I have to disagree with you. A parent of a 10-11 year old shouldn't still be "learning" how to deal with child-to-child relationships. Back when I was a kid, it wasn't normal for parents didn't threaten to harm another person's child over kid stuff, so I certainly can't justify that attitude now. In the two years I've been teaching, I've had four parents threaten to harm a child because of petty childhood incidents, and several of the other teachers I know have experienced the same thing. It makes me angry that adults can be so stupid. No wonder the world is such a violent place today; I'm trying to teach my students that violence isn't the answer, yet their parents are threatening to smack other kids around. For a time I was teased unmercifully when I was in school and threatened several time, but my parents never threatened that other child. They called the school, they called parents, but I never heard them say that "someone needs to make sure they have bail money because I'm going after that kid if he touches my child." I don't see why things are so different now.

I merely challenged your 'allness' appraoch by offering two contradictory scenarios which you expected me to backup. Here's you again: "Instead of doing a "hit and run" posting to be inflammatory, why don't you back it up?" Well I backed it up and now you're ticked about it. Next time don't ask if you don't want a response. I respect your commitment to our youths and I respect your attitude of doing whatever it takes to survive, even if taking a lower paying job(yes, I remember that discussion back a few months ago) but I'm not too pleased with your hostility this evening.

Any parent that thinks they know it all is only kidding themselves and doing a disservice to their children. I can see that you are very passionate about this subject. I could generalize about the bad experiences we have had with some teachers but I choose not to do so because it demeans those teachers that work so hard and have done such a good job with my kids. I think in your haste to lash out that you forget that those you are so angry with are the minority and I would prefer not to be grouped with them thank you.

And the folks I worked with over the summer in China and during my earlier travels to Europe didn't/don't hate what America is at all. They hate our 'leadership.' They hate George Bush. They don't understand how a great nation can look up to ignorance, arrogance and plain old stupidity as traits to be valued. But they don't hate the USA or its people. Hell, they really seem to love us ... or want to. That's what makes everything going on with us on the world stage so confounding. And until you get out and travel to other lands and other places, please don't just believe what is force fed to you by the media. >> I realized that this summer in China when I had to explain things like George Bush, the religious zealots that have taken over the Republican Party, and ... oh yeah, American Idol! << <<I can understand the difficulty in explaining freedom of religion, and the right of the people to elect who they choose.>> Some people ... well, many people, view religion as a bad thing. That doesn't make them bad people or ignorant people or people that need to be taught or converted or saved. That doesn't even mean they don't believe in a higher power. You can be spiritual and ethical ... and moral ... and have no use for any organized religion. And, no, it doesn't mean you're going to hell unless by hell you mean a WDW resort bus headed to Port Orleans from the MK at midnight on a July night! <<Next time I suggest you try explaining these things to people who actually understand the concept, and live in a country that practices these things.>> I'd rather live in a country that isn't so polarized and that's tolerant of people with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, sexual orientation ... and one where votes really count and not something called the electoral college. <<Would you please give me the names of these religious fanatics, I wish to distance my self from them.>> It might be easier to name the names of those politicians who don't pander to the flock by using words like 'God' and 'faith' in speeches! <<If you attempted to explain American Idol you must have watched it. Are you a closet Fan Spirit? >> I can honestly say I haven't made it through a full episode yet and doubt I ever will. I can't explain it anymore than I can explain the popularity of WalMart or Ben Stein.

OK I'm not a moron and I sure won't devote a designated time for any tv show, I wouldn't remember anyway.

Being a big brother I learnt lots of lessons about parenting that I have tried with my own kids and changed views as well. I am of the "let the kids sort it out" mentality most of the time, but I also have little desire to raise my kids in the US because there are less weapons on the playground here (though sadly that is changing).
