Window units are 30-40% less efficient than central units (that is, they use 30-40% more electricity for the same amount of cooling). So unless you're careful with the window units and leaving parts of your house uncooled that would normally be cool, your electric bill will be even higher than normal.

We are currently confined to quarters. Either all of us are in our own rooms, or in the living room with the door shut. It could be worse.
