Now if they really want security checks, they should do the Magic Mountain style metal detectors. Annoying and intrusive, sure, but by far the best security at any amusement park to my knowledge.

It seems to me that the CM's in the parks seem to spot them more than the ones at the checks. Try going to an NFL game now, 60,000+ get a pat down search.

No, not really... They had me walk through the metal detector without taking off my purse, so naturally the thing went off. They looked in my purse, but didn't make me go through the detector again or wand me to make sure there wasn't something else that was triggering the detector. :eyeroll:

Well, if you want to start getting into fun things that are out there that would easily get by a metal detector and especially bag checks, then here we go....cell phones...not all cell phones are alike...yes, there now exists a cell phone that looks just like a cell phone, except it packs a bang into it when you pull the trigger. How would bag checks or even metal detectors stop that? Thankfully, they aren't readily available. But you'd be surprised at what's out there, including plastic weapons that fly right through metal detectors.

Anyway, enough of that...Disneyland's bag check is a "visual deterrent" as they like to call it. Some CM's, and might I add that they are not part of the security department, but the main entrance department, don't really care to be looking through bags, and some do. Depends on who's out there doing the job. They're not paid very well at all...they start around $8.20/hour. There are other aspects of security not seen or rarely noticed by the guests, but are there...the extensive cctv system, plain clothes officers, bomb sniffing dogs, Anahiem PD officers, all to assist with the uniformed presence.

Anyway, there are steps being taken to help keep the Resort and guests safe each day. Disneyland works closely with the government regarding terrorist threats and all that fun stuff. Are there things that I would like seen changed? Of course. There's always room for improvement, and those changes cannot be mentioned here...sorry.

Last words...every security system, no matter how elaborate and "secure," there's always a weak point, it just has to be found...
