It is normal to have a second outbreak. If your grandson can handle it blow dry his hair, maybe while watching a cartoon or special movie. for a good 15 mins on the highest setting. Of course make sure not to do it too close so his poor little head does not burn. Then repeat all washing and vaccum EVERYTHING RID does have a furniture spray, spendie but at this point I dont think you care. OH and go to petco or someplace like that and ask if any of the animal products for fleas, like flea bomb would help with lice

It's 12:20am, been all day long, have another hour or so before daughter and I will have pillows and blankets done for tonight.

That was their last outbreak. My guess is they would have to wear something like a shower cap to bed.

At best, it "stuns" them and makes it easier to get them out initially. We used a natural product called "Out of Hair" that we got at Whole Foods. It's basically Neem, Lavender, Rosemary and Tea Tree. Lice hate Tea Trea oil. I've made my own, but this kit came with a comb, etc. I always leave the oils on overnight. It's worked everytime. And everything that's been said about heat and washings is true - very important. I would comb for hours and have a bowl with water and rubbing alcohol right next to me to rinse the comb. Man, I hate lice! I'll see if I can find a link for the product I mentioned. I really swear by it!

They usually have them much before you know about it - especially hard to spot on light hair -- but they don't carry disease, they don't spread to pets and you can conquer them...It is a painstaking process though. Remember the RID and sprays are poisons so be sure to use them only as directed. Don't forget the upholstery in the car where the kids' heads sit. Spray and then put towels over the spots so they won't come in contact with the poisons. Best thing for us was the short hair cuts and then after the RID treatment to sit outside in the sun (you can see the nits best) and comb and look for those nits. You have to get all the nits and they are stubborn. I ended up cutting the strands off where I found them. There used to be a wonderful neon colored spray you could put on the hair and brush off, and it stayed on the nits, which made them easy to spot. Vacuum, bag, wash those sheets and pillowcases especially. Check your spouses hair and have them check yours. You are going to feel itchy no matter what, but it doesn't hurt to check everyone in the house. Don't let the RID sit on the hair any longer than it says to. My daughter had an unpleasant reaction to it. You do have to use the treatment twice (the second time after 7-10 days) Oh - and creamsavers are a great bribe while you are going through the kids' hair. Good luck!!

However all the literature and everyone I've talked to is so ademant about getting everyone of them out. I had visions of reinfestation and all this GARBAGE going on endlessly. When I pinned the lady on the hotline down she said it's for cosmetic reasons. They will stick to the hair, growing out with the hair. And yes they are sticky, but they WILL NOT PRODUCE MORE BUGS. HALLELUIAH! I still want to get them out, but it's not a matter of reinfestation. I don't think I can go through much more of this, and her answer does relieve me finally. Now the biggie is the laundry, but hey I can handle that I think.

Especially with Nix -- which I found to be one of the least effective solutions. You must MUST MUST get rid of the nits. Some will not live through the treatment, but some will. And it only takes one. Don't ask me how it is they don't need to mate, but they don't. You MUST get rid of the nits. Sorry!
