Aligning with "Focus on the Family" is as well. Chick-Fil-A can do whatever it likes. But if they're going to discuss their opinions of things having nothing to do with chicken sandwiches, they have to realize that doing so might mean some people would no longer wish to support them. Free market at work.

But I can't help but think this has been blown WAY out of proportion.

He took a stand, and now people can choose to either support him or not. I don't get why, in 2012, a company would actively support bigotry and offend millions of potential customers, but Chick-Fil-A's CEO did just that. It must be that big of a deal to them.

I read the interview in it's original context, and although not asked "what is your view on gay marriage"; he was asked about the controversy his previous statements have caused. That's when he said the "guilty as charged" thing. So, he re-endorsed, rather flippantly, all of his past views. So, the gay marriage thing is automatically included in that. That's why people are upset again, because of his attitude about it, and the fact that he couldn't care less. Again, it is his right to do and say whatever he wants. But, he has to anticipate the blowback.

Besides I'm sure had Los Pollos Hermanos not closed down because their CEO was the drug kingpin of the Southwest, people still would have gone there.

Up until now CFA's argument has been that the organizations they support are not solely in the business of stopping gay marriage. Which is true. Even Focus on the Family does other stuff. His statement changed things by specifically stating that yes, it is CFA's official policy that they're opposed to gay marriage. That's the difference. >>Granted I never ate at a CFA but let's say who's ever running Pabst these days, makes similar comments, there's a strong possiblity I'd still be buying Pabst despite my disagreement<< If he said "I'm opposed to gay marriage", that would be one thing. If he said "Pabst Brewing Company is opposed to gay marriage", then I'm drinking Bud. (If I drank beer, which I don't.) >>I had a heck of a time finding a work appropriate orange shirt<< I call BS. No real gay would want me to go out in public with an orange shirt.
