What about weapons they find via the metal detector? There's no "printout." Same is true with a pat-down. Any questionable item found with the new scanning machines is going to be investigated using the same methods that they've always used. No printer is necessary.

Since 911 there has not been a huge rush of people trying to blow up planes and yet, instead of just dealing with them and the screeners that failed to catch them like before, the rest of us have to show up at the airport two hours early just to make it through security lines. It has to end somewhere.

I can see your point, but i would much rather take off my shoes and not have bottled water then have my or anybody elses plane bombed. As to the whole showing up 2 hrs early thats not required. A few months ago i showed up less then an hour early.On the way back from l.a we were running really late due to traffic so We got there with 10mins to spare and the lady even told us we could go grab a coffee lol.
