I'd go. but only if the crowds were at a September 1973 level. Meaning NOT VERY CROWDED!!!!!

Personally, I think I would have preferred animatronic interaction instead of CGI with a slightly more "serious" (though still somewhat humorous) way to do this, but they could have done this much, much worse. I'm all for plussing the older attractions, as long as they don't mess with the original mood or setting. And this looks to still be within the intent of the original Mansion designers. Until I see it in person, I'll just have to judge it by the video which looks "fun". On a personal note, when I was very young (7) and visited Disneyland's Haunted Mansion in 1969, I was absolutely petrified by the Hitchhiking Ghosts at the end and truly thought that they were going to follow me home. I had trouble sleeping for several nights because I thought they were "real". Now, I'm wondering how other young children will react from this. Will they find it more "real" or less?? I'm guessing that they will either be loving the playful nature of the ghosts, or that they might be truly terrified that their heads might explode or get switched with a ghost's. Of course, kids today don't seem to be as "gullible" as my generation when all of these effects were new and "believable", and not so commonplace on TV. They might just shrug it off...

TP, I thought you would be laughing your head off at us.

Are you saying then that the mechanical looking AAs from before, with their limited and repetitive movements, were more realistic and convincing? Even if they were (and they weren't) anyone can see that the new effects are far more entertaining and clever. "And, let me get this right, there are DL folks here clamouring to have their Mansion bookended by Kindercare?" This is precisely the kind of gross exaggeration that makes visiting these boards so painful sometime. Of all the silly cringe inducing kiddie things that Disney has introduced at its parks of late this is not one of them.

And, although HMH is fun in of itself, I'm always a bit disappointed when I visit DL or TDL during the fall season, because the regular Mansion isn't there. And, I get a bit apprehensive when I rumors about wholesale changes to the backstory. But as to the hitchhiking ghosts changes, I don't think it could be better. Remembering back to being a kid, that was one of my favorite parts of it. I remember sitting in the doombuggy with my parents, wondering where the ghost would appear and which one it would be. It was delightful fun. These changes seem to keep more or less the same concept, and add in technology that wasn't available 40 years ago (or maybe even 4 years ago for all I know). It's more or less the same gag, the same idea, the same mood and tone, but plussed. I don't see why people would complain about it.

And this is coming from someone who has complained fairly steadily for the past 4 years. But this is a very cool looking, and in-theme plus to a ride that was already basically perfect.

The refurb was the greatest refurb in the history of any attraction anywhere, IMO. So naturally I didn't want the underlying mood changed back to a more playful one. Oh well, Mansion is still a masterpiece though!

It looks a little over the top from the video, and I can't tell what all the gags are. But some of the gags don't seem especially strong (like the ones where the ghost is riding on top of the Doom Buggy). Have to see it in person to have a conclusive opinion.

And what do you think painting Small World white again, painting TL blue and white again, bringing back Lincoln, Subs, SB Walkthrough, specialty shops, TL Terrace, Capt EO, old monorail/DL marquee pool, Painted Desert tribute at DL Hotel is. Hey, RT, we KNOW you hate 1955-1995 Disney and all it stands for but your on the wrong board to rub that in. Enjoy your pre-packaged, survey marketed changes at WDW.

Siiigh yes....these rubes (or ignorant fanbois) need a crash course lesson in the horror that was 1996-2003. They probably don't even remember when Indy was marketed as the Second Comming. These "fans" probably woulda wanted Light Magic run forever or consider SuperStar Limo a classic.
