Would you WEDphiles get your stories straight? If people think they're holograms, then they didn't think they were ghosts. ERGO THE EFFECT NEEDED UPDATING!
Originally Posted By HMButler79 ""If people think they're holograms, then they didn't think they were ghosts."" Way to twist the facts to benefit the way you see it. The reason guests still think they are holograms is because they STILL dont know how it's done IE they think it's soo fancy. The fact that a simple reverse Peppers Ghost effect makes guests think otherwise after 40years means the effect WORKED. Did you REALLY not grasp this concept?

If you don't like it, I suggest you visit Disneyland or, better yet, get your nostalgia fix by watching youtube videos of the old Hitchhiking Ghosts.

Last time I checked, the new bride and changes to the attic took place in DL's Mansion as well!!! If the all powerful DL APers couldnt stop Disney from placing characters into Small World, I dont think anything can be done to stop this change in the DL Mansion. Besides, judging from the DL board, most people are begging for this effect in DL now!!

Oh no, wait-- these are the ones you agree with, so they're really smart. But they think reflections in mirrors are holograms, and find real holograms more entertaining. So they're... stupid? Or smart?

(But why?) >>...these rubes (or ignorant fanbois)...<< I will assume you are addressing me, since I like this new effect (as well as I can tell from the posted videos and guest reactions), and want to see it at the DLR HM. A "rube" is an unsophisticated person who cannot appreciate fine entertainment. Hmm. Not me, as I went to college (AND studied), and don't enjoy the current Disney Channel at all. "Ignorant fanboi" doesn't fit either, as I am far from ignorant (in fact, I know it all-- just ask anyone here on LP!), and I am even farther from being a boy. Or boi. >>... need a crash course lesson in the horror that was 1996-2003.<< And yet, you fail to offer that crash course! No need for me, as I was visiting the DLR regularly through that entire time period, and complaining loud and long about what was going on. >>They probably don't even remember when Indy was marketed as the Second Comming.<< Uh no, 'cause it wasn't. (And is that spelling supposed to be "creative?" Or some kind of code?) >>These "fans" probably woulda wanted Light Magic run forever or consider SuperStar Limo a classic.<< Not this "fan." But then, I do know some who did like these offerings. And.... they're just stupid. That's all. See how easy that is?

And yet it's definitely much better than the manequins that were there from the Nixon era. << Thank you. And good ideas... Have them start out less life like, and THEN go all wild. That would excuse the lack of Marc Davis.. ..which I doubt WDI could produce these days, anyway. Marc Davis jokes, I mean.

Be offended for Marc Davis, in any case. (Sorry, Skinner... LOL)

Kim and Tony knew there'd be full mass rioting if they recreated the HKDL character scenarios. The press drama over it and the AP drama the blog entries on Re-Imagineeering. It is SO obvious it struck fear into the hearts of WDI. SO what did they do. Well..first they didn't even give the characters thier own sets. 1st win. Second, they used regular SW Doll molds for the characters and just put the costume on them. Not the creepy smiling chucky dolls at HKDL. Third, the music was dramitaclly turned down. At HKDL "Bibbidi Bobbdi Boo" and "When You Wish..." completly overpower the Euro section. At DL "BBB" is completly drowned out by the French and Spanish tracks. AND.. they didn't even bring ALL the HKDL characters. Some of the characters are unrecognizable. The Cindy doll could be representing Cosette from Les Miz for all we know. Also, the "character toys" were done in a more literal Rolly Crump style instead of the awful Fisher Price style at HKDL. It is very clear that the whole drama scared WDI into a redo that was basically.....a wash. So yes... we sort of won...

Because it FIT into the CONTEXT and THEME of the Mansion.<< That wasnt my point when I posted that, my point was the DL Mansion is not "pure" or in its "original form",as you stated, because of those additions. Also there are people (a few here even) who dont like the new bride and felt it was out of place. Just like there are a few who dont like this new HHG effect. I highly doubt, based on reactions on BOTH boards here and on other sites, as well as guest reactions so far, that Disney is going to feel any fear or nervousness in putting this in DL. In fact, from guests and SOME fans, I imagine that the WDW opening day "Pirates" effect will begin to happen and people will go to DL and feel disappointed that its not there. JMO BTW - I was born and raised in Anaheim, I lived in DL as a teen. I loved DL - but I have always liked WDW's Mansion better and for me, this just makes it 10 steps ahead of where it was before. Cant wait to see it. The HHG now remind me of the Lonesome Ghosts Silly Symphonys short. Which I loved and I dont see anything wrong with them doing what they do...."or a silly spook may sit by your side. Shrouded in a DAFT disguise, the PRETEND to terrorize" definitions of Daft is merry; playful; frolicsome; insane; senseless; crazy
