ANd tell us more about being a CookieMaker on Main Street WDW.<< Thank you MMC!! I have actually been a member here since 2001, was incredibly active for years, but the negativity on here drove me away for a while. I always lurk but rarely post. I moved to NC in 2005 and miss FL so much that sometimes its actually hard to look at disney related things. However, I am moving back in a few months so I am happy again. As for the cookie baking thing, I worked on Main street from 1995 to 1999, the bakery had a small cookie shop in front of it where people could watch you bake thru the window. I had so much fun. Got to see a lot of crazy thing, lots of cool things, parade overload sometimes Bakery went down for rehab in '99 and the cookie shop was removed. I left disney and went to work at IOA in Seuss Landing attractions!! Yes I know, traitor, but I love Uni just as much as disney. I like working at Disney better though!! Ok, I am done hijacking the thread, back to arguing about the Mansion!!! LMAO!!

There was never a plan to introduce the HK scenes into the DL small world. No need, as there was already a complete attraction. There was a complete new scene-- America-- introduced. And it was more than just APers who kicked up a fuss, so the notion that they and they alone can somehow make Disney change their plans is far fetched. As far as I know, there was only one time that public outcry made Disney cancel their plans. That was when they announced that "Here Come the Muppets" would replace Mr. Lincoln in the Main Street Opera House. Other changes have been driven by the market place, and after the fact. Recent changes that were deplored, unchanged, and have not been rescinded include introducing elements of the film into PotC, refreshing the Submarines with Nemo, and adding the axe wielding bride to the HM. There was even a fuss when the show spiel for the Steamboat was changed to include references to Princess and the Frog. Yet, there it is.

Light Magic actually opened and ran for a full SUmmer before it was removed. There's a LOT of that going on acroiss the esplanade right now! >>They recently removed "graffiti" inspired designs from a store in California's Downtown Disney due to local outcry.<< I was really referring to attractions. (Although i guess to some in marketing, those sweats and caps ARE an attraction!)
