I also noticed a lip-syncing error in "What Time Is It". When they are outside dancing in front of the school, Gabriella is supposed to be singing a backround part, but instead appears to be singing along with the rest of the group.

In "I don't dance" in one part when they are all dancing, they are supposed to be singing at the same time, yet both Chad and Ryan are not moving their mouths at all.

There are more, but it would go on and on. Overall, I thought that it was cheesy but good. I wish that they wouldn't have shown us half the songs beforehand though. Suprises are good sometimes, ya know?

I don't know what the technical term for this is, but it sounded like they were singing through a computer. The songs work better as stand-along songs to play on the radio like this, but it looks absolutely rediculous to see them lip synching to it. Most of the time it barely matched, and it just looked terrible. It was also pretty tough to understand what they were saying, and the point of music in a musical is to help tell the story, not just be there for fun.

The story on this was a little weak, but it wasn't terrible. What I really didn't like was how forced the whole thing looked. None of the actors seemed to really like being there, and it just slowly took away from the whole movie. Ashely Tisdale also seemed to over act for the entire thing. Part of what I really liked about her in the other movie was that you didn't hate her, but you certainly didn't want to be around her if you didn't have to. In this one, she was clearly desinged to be the villain, and her brother went from amusingly out of it to a useless stooge.

I don't know if it was much longer, but this one seemed to drag on forever, while the original kept to the plot and the story was constantly moving. There was no real sense of time passing or a real goal to work toward, so the movie just sort of rambled on. I feel like the songs in this one will do better with the general public, but don't work well to tell the story. The original's songs were fun and campy, but still did a great job of expressing what they needed to.

As for Troy's solo number, I think it might have the same reason as John Travolta's song at the drive-in in Grease. Gabriella had a song earlier (as had Sandy) in the movie, and it wasn't fair to give one lead a song and not the other. The difference though, is that the second one really had no reason for existing.

In general, I feel like where the first was original and creative, this just kept to the books. There were no real surprises in the new one, and it really just wasn't interesting. I would probably give the original an A, and the new one a D. Hopefully High School Musical 3 will be a step up from the second. (And are we ever going to actually see the musical?)

I still haven't watched it, and I wanted to watch the new show at DCA today, but thought my DD would be upset if she realized I had seen it before she had!

I'm going to watch the movie by myself sometime this week. :)

Have you guys gone to actually SEE the Bratz for Real movie yet?

I am taking my kids this weekend.

I am going in with high hopes, but if the movie begins to "go south" we will get up and leave.

I'll report back with an objective view. I hope I don't regret it.

BTW We all LOVED HSM2 !!! Agreed the singing was a little helped, but that's just the way it is these days. We have to get used to the fact that ANYONE can sing now.

em--had no idea you were related to McCall! She's mom's neighbor. DD danced with KayCee for years and several of the background dancers. I don't have tons of interest in the story, but am thrilled to see KayCee doing well--she truly is a delightful person.

No. My oldest is only 5. We have enough attitude issues without adding in high school drama (we get enough of that from Raven and Hannah Montana! LOL)

we probably won't see it, either.

WOW...it was really good! The song "Everyday" reminds me of the ending of Dirty Dancing. :)

And DD3 (wow, it's weird to write that now) saw Miley and said "MILEY! Mommy, it's MILEY!" when she pops on the screen at the end. :)

Now, I have to learn the dances...I have the dance along on my DVR.
