But I prefer HoJo's, not that much farther of a walk than BWPPI/PVI (about the same as Paradise Pier), and much better rooms and grounds.

First of all there are two large swimming pools. The main pool also has a water play area with water that shoots up in the air. Although geared towards smaller kids, I see the older kids enjoy it too. And there is a large spa in this area too. The second pool is also large, and it is right next to building 2. This keeps either pool from being crowded, which is so nice. The pools are kept nice and warm during the cooler seasons, so swimming in November and January is always nice! And the grounds are so pretty at night - they have those small white Christmas type lights strung thru all the trees. They are lit through out the year, not just the holidays, which is a really cheerful touch.
And Mimi's cafe is right next door, which is one of my favorites, so that is really convienent.

I dont know how the actual square footage compares but my room at Hojo felt bigger than ours at BWPPI. Maybe it was just a spacious feeling and not actual. At BWPPI I thought the couch and half wall just took up space and made it crowded. I liked that Hojos had an actual table and chairs, this was more useful to us than a couch and coffee table. Plus the little nook area near the balcony door was great for our luggage and shopping bags. The desk/dresser was huge! It was really handy to have 2 sinks, one outside the bathroom. We dont always have time to enjoy the pools but its a nice view with DL in the background. I prefer the interior hallways, it helps with the noise levels. The floor to ceiling windows and balcony make it bright and cheery but the double drapes block out the light if you choose. Being close to Mimi's for take-out is the best part!

For us, the hotel atmosphere is a big factor since we usually stay for 6 days. Its an extension of our vacation and we have to be happy there, its more than a place to sleep to us. If we could afford a resort hotel we would do it every time!

I leave next thursday for a weekend trip to San Diego. I am flying Express Jet, and am paying 457.60. I booked directly with the airline.

If I book through travelwithgraham, the same exact flight on Express Jet came to 809.60.

I also had a hard time sleeping in Bldg 2, it's up close to the freeway & you can hear a concussion type sound as the big trucks go down the freeway.

Of course you always have some sort of noise level, but for some reason, the traffic noise kept me awake a lot.

    Just my 2 cents. ;D

I like both hotels & they both have their good & bad points. Personally, I've never had a bad stay at BWPPI & it is my favorite. I also noticed they installed higher shower heads which is soooo nice.
