He's a registered Democrat. Most of his views are left wing. Sorry, liberals, but racists inhabit the fringes of both wings.

And it's the liberals who pathetically tried to tie this nut to the right. It just isn't so, no matter how much hand waving they do.

Lets just do away with parties and have everyone run as independents and have to raise their own capital from the public funding. - with no one able to contribute more than $5000 to any one person.

I'm so sick of us vs. them at this point. "The right wing did this" "The left wing did this" Shut up people and get stuff DONE.

What does proving he was 'right wing' or 'left wing' prove? I think people are missing the main point about this.

Because it represents an ongoing pattern right now since the Obama election. It was highlighted by the DHS as a potential threat - that of growing right-wing extremism that could lead to violence.

In just a few short months, we've had multiple incidents in this country of a right-wing extremist, or at least somebody who identifies more with that extreme than the extreme left, killing or attempting to kill someone. It's also almost always religiously motivated in some way. It's scary. It raises the very legitimate question about what role right-wing television and radio plays in this, as well as fundamentalist religion.

I'm going off memory here, so I'll gladly admit it if I'm wrong, but I don't remember anything like this happening when Bush was President. I don't recall any extreme left-wingers, even after the highly charged 2000 election, going around shooting those they disagreed with. This seems pretty isolated to one side.

All of that said, I will admit that I jumped to the conclusion that this particular individual was a "right-wing extremist." I certainly think his racism, anti-semitism, and his hatred of "liberalism," tend to put him more in the extreme right camp. But he does seem to be an odd individual who also has issues with some right wing politics. But to say he's a "left-wing extremist," as some have done, is utter nonsense.
