I like the Adventure theme and I'm so glad that the hotel isn't based on a Disney character.

Maybe LeeMac can share some infos with us??

The auto-translate is making it a bit confusing, but this would appear to be saying that there will be a nighttime parade coming for the 10th anniversary next year.

Further down, the article mentioned that the government owns Ocean Park, and partly owns HKDL. How does this work? Isn't it a conflict of interest?

And it's interesting to see the in-park expansion pads they have left. With how they've added attractions as mini-lands, it really doesn't look like there's a lot of room for growth in the park. I would guess there are some in-fill pads available (like the Peter Pan space within the Pooh building), but it does worry me some for this park's long-term growth. Has there been any realistic talk of a 2nd park on the other side of the entrance?

    >>The three themed [Mystic Manor, Grizzly Gulch, Toy Story] areas have increased the park size by about one-fourth bringing the total number of attractions and entertainment offerings to over 100.<<

Umm...I'm not sure how they're counting, but I don't think any guest would consider the number of attractions and entertainment offerings to be anywhere near 100. Perhaps if you count each and every performance by each entertainment group, but that sounds like a real stretch!

    >>The hotel will cap a remarkable addition of new experiences, including a brand new nighttime spectacular called “Disney Paint the Night,”<<

This must be that new parade they were talking about! It will be interesting to see how it turns out, especially since HKDL has already hosted a nighttime parade (Glow in the Park for Halloween)

I had completely forgotten about that! Obviously it wouldn't be a big headliner attraction (which would make it tough to justify the expense of adding it), but it would be a neat addition. I wonder how much space they'd be able to realistically use, since the Jungle Cruise needs some of that land for its scenery, and they probably don't want guests walking through the background of anything that's supposed to be remote and exotic

Disney learned from the DLP disaster. They built a nice small park and only TWO hotels and now the park is growing.

At DLP they made so many mistakes at once that problems were imminent. Three hotels would have been enough.

By the way, does anyone know if HKDL is in debt like DLP?

... except for the grossly-lower attendance than anticipated, and it losing money for the first 7 or so years.

HKDL is in debt, but I don't think it's as big of an issue as DLP. The debt was always part of the business plan for the early years, and the simpler park helped keep construction and operating costs down

I'm not especially familiar with the original projections, but I was always under the impression that the attendance was a little soft, but not far below the projections. I also believe that they knew they would lose money early on (most big investments do), but I'm glad to see that they've been turning it around

It's crazy to think that HKDL will be 10 years old next year!

And indeed, that is the case:
