I don't buy the "capacity" excuse.

Popular rides always have lines. (that's obvious)

I remember SOME lines back in the day...but when I say "NO" lines I really mean it.

    I mean...not a single visitor.

    Not before me.

    Not after me.

    Not 10 minutes after me.

    As in...empty.

That's different (totally different) from a high capacity ride like haunted mansion that sometimes funnels people through rather quickly.

    I do miss that pavilion.

Can't say I loved Body Wars though...made me sick.

I did love the overall pavilion lots though, and ADORED Cranium Command (it wasn't dated back when I enjoyed it).

Remember those "hot/cold" trick metal things they had? Those were neat.

I was pretty unimpressed with the whole pavilion, really.

Only saw it the second time thanks to the birnbaum guidebook.

But, I enjoyed the pavilion for whatever reason. (I liked all of em, actually...never really even had a favorite)

I like them all, but SSE has always been my absolute fav, followed by Horizons.

The sad thing is, with Disney these days, something like Epcot would likely not be built.

Their a blur in the mist to me. All I can remeber was I enjoyed them

Let's pare down the park map to a single fold out page and trim attraction descriptions that used to be a full single page them self per pavilion down to to a single 3-word line!!!

It killed Horizons, it killed Wonders, it's not taken Energy yet because it managed to keep the word "Dinosaurs" and that excites people.

"is this the dinosaur ride?" "Why yes, yes it is!"

35% of park total, which is very solid, in case you cared. E-tickets are around 50-60% depending on the ride and capacity, with SSE ranging from 70 to 90% because of it's high capacity (slower the day, the more of the total it does)

    Figment? Don't ask..

Wait, what is this a percent of and what does it relate to? I don't know what you mean.

It has nothing to do with short attention spans, but rather, giving visitors a wide variety of ride experiences using unique vehicles.

For a long-duration ride, you must have a slow-moving vehicle travelling along a large track. The two most common "slow vehicles" are dark ride/omnimover cars and boats.

Unfortunately, when EPCOT opened it was ALL slow-moving vehicles (SSE, Horizons, WoM, Energy, Imagination, Listen to the Land, El Rio del Tiempo). One could argue that there was very little ride variety, both in the vehicles and the animatronic-heavy attractions themselves. (During that same time at the MK, you had omnimovers and boats, but there were also trains, steamboats, roller coasters, spinners, submarines, and skyways)

It makes sense that Disney would want to explore new technologies to expand its ride vehicle offerings, not only at EPCOT but also the other parks.

So they developed audio-enhanced roller coaster cars, wire-guided elevator drop vehicles, variable-speed race cars, multi-arm centrifuges, a variety of motion-based vehicles, and aerial lift cages that ascend into Omnimax screens.

Disney's advancements in ride vehicle technology is often overlooked, but it shouldn't be underestimated.

But the tradeoff of such innovative technology is either faster vehicle speeds or lower capacity...both of which prohibit "long duration" attractions.

For example, Test Track has THE LONGEST TRACK of a Disney attraction, but since the vehicle is so fast, the ride duration is fairly short.

In order to maintain a high rider capacity (and hence, shorter lines) Soarin and Mission Space must turn-over their vehicles more frequently than, say, PoC...which means a shorter ride. (In theory, Disney could have built more theaters/vehicles and then made those attractions longer-lasting, but I'm sure that was cost-prohibitive.)

Does that mean "long duration" Disney attractions are history? I don't think so. It sounds like DCA's future "Little Mermaid" attraction could top PoC's run time. Im guessing Toy Story Mania will also be fairly lengthy. Lets hope the rumored "Imagination" rehab will extend the track (which WAS cut short by now-replaced misguided management). Keep in mind, the Living Seas track was recently extended, so its not totally unheard of.

This is true, there was a lot of the sameness in the original rides at epcot. They all looked a lot alike.

And after seeing a recent video of World Of Motion, eh...well, it was an awful lot like Spaceship Earth. Spaceship Earth tells the story of progres better, though.

Test Track is not such a bad thing. I would like for it to have more ideas in there about futuristic vehicles at the end, though. Instead, it kind of looks like a auto showroom. Well, I guess because it is...
