I will have a car also so maybe I wont need a shuttle, just thought the idea of less driving after driving down from oregon sounded better.
    thanks for all the help.

This is my first choice of close hotels these days. Contrary to the previous poster, it is in no way shabby, although it does not have inside hallways. The rooms are small, but nicely outfitted with fridge and microwave. It's an easy 10 minute walk to the front gate (you enter where the busses enter). I've found that I can almost always get a great rate, and they have free wireless internet, too.

About Days Inn - it is past HoJo's on Manchester, not a bad walk for older kids, but depending on the length of the day in the park, might be a bit too far for younger children. Last time we were there they were in the process of remodeling, so I can't comment on the rooms since then.

When using Hotwire there is an option to buy insurance. I think it is 7 or 9$, if you pay for this you are allowed to cancel for certain reasons. Hotwire cancellation/change policy -> http://www.hotwire.com/helpcen...nges.jsp

I also noticed priceline will not let you use the 4 star option for the disneyland area, is that correct.

This one is only 2 stars.

You can look at the hotels by star rating first to see what type are considered 3 or 3.5 stars by priceline to get an idea of what type you might end up with.

If you buy the insurance, they are very specific on what's allowed for them to give you your money back. The biggest thing for me is that if you change your plans, for any reason that's under your control, you are NOT covered. If you're sick, or a plane breaks down, or a hurricane comes in to your destination area, those are covered. But if I just change my mind about my dates, or if work requires me to readjust, I'm screwed.

I'm doing hotwire for a car rental in L.A. in about 3 weeks. The price was about 1/2 what I could get through normal channels, and it's with AVIS, so it's very reputable. But I'm still nervous about it, as things tend to come up in my life requiring plans to change. We'll see how it works out.
