July is one of the busiest months of the year at WDW because that's when kids are out of school and people take vacations, not because it's pleasant. Hot in Florida is unlike hot just about anywhere else. You'll have highs in the high 90's and lows in the 80's. The humidity is so high that the heat just doesn't much dissipate after dark. Even at 7am you'll leave your hotel room and feel like a blow dryer is hitting you in the face. And you'll be in the parks shoulder to shoulder with tens of thousands of cranky sweaty people, all trying to see the same attractions you are. I really don't mean to be a big ol' downer here. It is possible to have fun in WDW in July, but you have to come prepared for it. Take a hand towel out of your room and use it as a sweat towel throughout the day. Drink plenty of water. Hit the parks right at opening when it's somewhat cooler and much less crowded, and stay till noonish when it gets really crowded and hot. Then go back to your hotel for a swim and a nap. Go back into the parks around 4 or 5pm and stay till closing. Yes, you can still have a fun vacation, but you'll have to work a lot harder at it than if you visited in October or March. Good luck!

The far more unpleasant aspects of WDW in July are the crowds. Big floppy hat, sunscreen, and Gatorade and you'll be fine. Also don't try to wear make-up. As it has been suggested, from about 1pm-6pm it is really hot. Most days you will want to take a swim. As your kids are a little old to be napping at WDW on vacation. EPCOT is a good park for these hours. You can take in Energy, The Land, and Living Seas. Each of these pavilions can take up to an hour and are all indoors. Its all in your perspective. I listened to all these SoCal wimps rage on the heat in Otown a while back. They had almost convinced this Mom not to go because of the heat. Then we found out that they are from San Antonio. I told her it would be like a day at the beach for them. For the most part, I have found that people who live in places that don't really get extremes at either end, really freak out if it gets above 90 or below 60. Those of us that see single digits regularly don't seem to freak out about the weather. Whatever it is. You can decide its either a big deal or not.

Get over it.< But you said it yourself - people who live there all summer long are used to the heat and humidity. I live in Dallas, and while we have some very warm and humid days it's nothing like 95 in Orlando in July or August. High heat and humidity are not things that I'm ever going to get over - I don't like 'em, and I choose to keep away from 'em if I can. As much as I love WDW, a vacation there in July or August is simply not appealing. As I said to teachermom, if you come in prepared you can still have a great time. But I choose to visit in the off season, when temps and humidity are much lower, and the crowds are far smaller.

They run all the entertainment (shows, parades, and fireworks) at their max scheldule. Park hours are longer. The water oriented resort activities (skiing, parasailing, and waterparks)are available. One thing we usually do during the heat of the day, is hit a park early, then head over to DtD for lunch, and catch a movie, then head back to the parks for dinner.

Being from NYS we never get weather like that. Actually when we were there a month ago, it was in the mid 80's - pretty much a hot summer day at home - in August!
