While I was 10, my older sister was 13, my younger sister was 8 and my little brother was 5.. so that gives you a pretty good age bracket of good walkers. Maybe it's just me but I am more afraid now (having just turned 21) that I am going to get tired walking all day to and from the hotel NOW than I was 10 years ago... My advice is pick a hotel that you can map on like google maps or something and see how long the walk is to the GATE. On google maps you can satellite the map and zoom in... it's actually pretty cool! We won't be staying at a hotel no more than a mile away.

I really hate having to watch the clock and find ourselves hurrying to the bus stop to not miss the bus, especially during "off hours" when the busses run less frequently.

I am able to zip back to the room to grab a sandwich or a drink, or take a dip in the pool, or grab a jacket if the evening gets cool, and I'm back to the park within minutes. I can do whatever I want when I want or need to...not when the shuttle says I can. What is it about Disneyland? We can walk for 20 minutes at the mall and be at death's door, but we can walk from open to close at Disneyland and not feel one bit pooped. Must be pixie dust.

Not the case when we are home. It has to be pixie dust.

Walking to Disney so less stressful, more affordable and more carefree without the worries of lines and schedules for shuttles/trams. And, the price you pay for rooms and acccomodations equal to or better than Paradise Pier/DL Hotel for half the price (PLUS FREE PARKING and continental breakfast) makes the walk worth it for me.
