We just returned from going on the updated Space Mountain and the new Tower of Terror for the first time. We loved them! We've been on lots of roller coasters and drop rides--but they don't compare to the ones we just rode because of the theming in the queue and on the ride. It makes for such a completely different experience. Even if the basic rides can be found other places, it's the multi-sensory experience and attention to detail that makes these rides so superior in Disneyland. That's why we prefer to make the trip to CA when we could visit other amusement parks closer and cheaper! We're all for some exciting new changes on POTC--we like it, but it seems like it could use some updating.

As for the food with the audios...ditch it...i would just put the food (i think it adds whimsy) on the balcony of it..u know on the ledge. o and please grease those tracks or something, its so squeaky! but yeah..i mean i love the drop part and the waterfalls in the beginning..add some lighting perhaps? o and i think they should add two brand new scenes (while keeping it in line with the story)...there you could put on your crappy johnny depp crape in there...ok? for god sakes...the movie was based on the damn ride. GOD! geez look at me...i must be a total nut.. look..im the kinda person who would waste their time writing something like this for thirty minutes. wow...see im a disney fan who hates the direction the park is going....im not like most fans where they think the park is perfect..no no.. I'll be honest, the 50th anniversary sucked, the parade sucked, teh fireworks sucked, the mosiacs sucked...ok there you go. stop pretending disney is perfect..its very well not...and those CALIFORNIA letters...god do something with them...take them' out, move them to the left of the main gate, tear down those mosiacs...add a courtyard with a 3-story tall waterfall and place them there with multi-color lighting on them...that would be beautiful...with some desert palms as well in the back...now that's something...and make the golden gate bigger...something...please...o and leave submarine lagoon alone...damn don't go g*yas* Finding Nemo on us...worst movie i have ever seen...totally pointless....god...tank the chlorine...put some high quality perification 68920 ilters in and add real fish! what a site that would make...add skyway, redo the space mountain track, and a new section to Main Street, new fantasyland rides...a new castle...new lands....more trees...longer thunder mountain...redo parts of HM and HMH..the list goes on and on people...sorry i let my mind speak...thanks and comment back

That's why the NBC makeover of the Haunted Mansion works for me. So much to see. After they remove NBC, so many scenes just seem empty.

But some people never like change. A few years back some even tried to save a rotting, old fiberglass rock proclaiming the end of the creative world if we didn't.

Jungle Cruise was changed and it is much more fun.

    Bring on the Pirates enhancements!!!!

It wasn't the "rock" - it was the waterfall that was worth saving. I still miss it.

    Agreed.

Cascade Peak was such an amazing and dynamic icon within Frontierland and a very strong icon for Disneyland's signature attractions used for marketing purposes.

But if some way you find these rides very similar then you must hate the Fantasyland dark rides. Except for Peter Pan, all the dark rides are pretty similar concepts. Snow White and Pinnochio seem they are the same ride except for the characters. I think to compare Indiana Jones Adventure to Paradise is quite a strech. In some ways Indiana Jones surpasses Pirates at Disneyland, because the adventure starts in the line. the Pirates line is not very immersive. I think Indiana JOnes is an incredible crowd pleaser. And Tower of Terror isn't a just a drop ride. The WDW version in particular goes beyond any drop ride at Six Flags.
As to changes to Pirates, i like my memories of Disneyland too, but I realize that in order for the park to succeed is that it has to change from time to time. Walt changed the Jungle Cruise and Tomorrowland several times. If he hadn't changed things we will still be riding around in the Phantom Boats, a barren storybook land, and riding in frieght cars on the steam trains. There are things in the world they probabably shouldn't change. The Lincoln Memorial is a good example of something that probabaly change.
but heck they even made changes to the White house,Statue of Liberty, and most the cathedrals of Europe. Their few things in the world that should remain unchanged forever. A theme park attraction though is definately something that should not remain untouched forever.
