I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but I'm gonna correct this anyway. :) LOL means - laughing out loud. It's other versions include ROTFLOL - rolling on the floor laughing out loud, and ROTFLMAO - rolling on the floor laughing my a** off. :)

Reagan was an idiot, helped plunge the world into a recession, and proliferated the Cold War
Johnson pushed the US further into the Vietnam conflict - true he further the Civil Rights movement, but not a great statesman.

I would argue that despite Watergate, with the exception of JFK, even Nixon was a better Pres than those named.

Bill did a lot internationally and helped the wealth, education and medical system of the US like no other since FDR. I stand by my thoughts.

Your only example that I agree with is Reagan who was an idiot BUT as a President he was better than Clinton as were probably 30 of our Presidents.
I've devoted a lifetime to studying this but I don't have time to do all the link stuff to prove my point. The facts are the facts.
P.S. Truman saved at least one million lives by having the courage to drop the bomb. That is irrefutable.
During the 50's the U.S. probably had arguably the "happiest" and peaceful 8 years in our history. It was innocence incarnate much like the Walt Disney phenonmenon that I grew up in coincidentally the same time. Ike was AGAINST the military taking over the government so I have NO idea where you're coming from??????????

I don't just look at American history when I consider great presidents, I think of the international angle - considering I studied international relations and am a US citizen in Europe.

The US media and history books are very myopic on what they report, and given I live in Europe, I may not always get the skinny on what is going down domestically in the US - though with the web, CNN, NBC and Fox it makes life a little easier).

It's ok to disagree. That's the beauty of living in a democracy. I used to be a lot more optimistic before the ChAD debacle in 2000. Now I've lost A LOT of faith.

BTW -- glad we agree on Reagan - can you believe he had to look at his script to say it was crowded on Main Street on Disneyland's opening day?

53--I know you're being funny STPH as even an idiot will take the lump sum of 135 mill or so which is TAX FREE, i.e. after all taxes have been paid. My father literally said the tax comment. Incredible but he MEANT it.

Please...don't set us back 40 years..we're worked too hard to come this far.

I didn't say "barefoot and in the kitchen" ... Someone else ascribed that attitude to me merely because I can't stand Hillary. In my post, it was a quote.

That said, I unapologetically believe ALL parents ... moms and dads, men and women ... ought to be spending much less time at work and much more time at home. Far too many kids are raising themselves because their moms and dads place far too much emphasis on success and achievement outside the home. No woman is more powerful than a good mother.

Someone can't look at a piece of paper without being labelled a dim bulb? C'mon.

Agreed, Reagan wasn't especially quick, and he had a short attention span. Big deal. That isn't the same as wisdom, vision and character, three traits much more necessary in the presidency. One can debate about whether Reagan had them, but there is scant evidence that either of the Clintons has any of the three.

“Fifty dollars!†she would shout from the curb.

    “No. Five dollars!†fired back Clinton.

This ritual between Bill and the hooker continued for days. He’d run by and she’d yell, “Fifty dollars!†And he’d yell back, “Five dollars!â€

One day however, Hillary decided that she wanted to accompany her husband on his jog. As the jogging couple neared the problematic street corner, Bill realized the “pro†would bark her $50 offer and Hillary would wonder what he’d really been doing on all his past outings. He realized he should have a darn good explanation for his wife, if he was going to stay out of trouble.

As they jogged into the turn that would take them past the corner, Bill became even more apprehensive than usual. Sure enough, there was the hooker. Bill tried to avoid the prostitute’s eyes as she watched the pair jog past.

Then, from the sidewalk, the hooker yelled, “See what you get for five dollars!â€
