Disneyland is where we would end up only one day on each trip. (maybe 2 as time passed) Anywho, I LOVED it as kid SO much and still LOVE it to this day. Now I have tried to take my family every year to continue the tradition. The difference is we cut out all the other stuff (Knott's, Universal, etc.) and spend every day at Disneyland! Some say I'm crazy, but I think those other parks are a waste of time and money when you can be at Disneyland!

Here is my question. My parents took our whole family every year and I'm pretty much the only one that was converted. My brother and sister haven't been in years, and my mom hasn't either. We've brought my dad along with us a few times and he enjoys it, but even he kinda freaks out that I do nothing but Disneyland and for so many days. If we get a 5 day hopper, he'll get a 2 day. For those whose parents took them every year, has your passion for Disneyland exceeded your parents or siblings? That seems to be the case for me. I wish my family loved it like I do. Oh well, at least I've hooked my wife and kids!

I myself grew up back East and only went to DL once at age 2, which I don't remember. After moving to SoCal as an adult, I went once with a friend, and later a few times with my young daughter, and sometimes DH, and once another family too. But I didn't get "converted" til a visit on the first weekend of December. It was sooo uncrowded back then, and everything Christmassy, especially the lights at night, made it so magical. At that time they had the Holiday Pass which we added to our day ticket. We were hooked!

I can't tell you how much crap I get from my in-laws (and occasionly my hubby) about my addiction. They're just jealous.

Indeed! I love it! We are fortunate to "get it" you know? So many "grown ups" don't.

I hit all the roller coasters and loved them, especially the matterhorn, sadly we missed small world and other classics which we would then hit in 2005 (around the 50th anniversary for my graduation trip) and followed by a 3rd visit in 2007. Everything seems to be more magical at Disneyland, either the performers with Fantasmic, or the original attractions like Mr. Toad.

Finally, with months of desperate pleading, my dad took us on a one day, zip down and zip back trip in November of 74. I was totally enchanted with the place, but those trips on Pirates and Haunted Mansion were mind blowers!

Sadly, we had only the one day, and it was a short one, so I left without seeing a lot of attractions, and an intense longing to return.
I was an adult before I could make it back, but the magic was still there, and I could stay for a whole week if I wanted to!

It's kind of odd how I was the only one in my family who had such a powerful reaction to the park, but I have always loved all the classic Disney films, so I guess it was only natural that I would fall in love with Disneyland.
