I also thought it was pretty neat that the 'flashbacks' were actually clips from old shows. In the past, there have been a ton of flashbacks to things we haven't seen in the show, but I think this was the first time that it was something from a previous episode (at least when it wasn't back-to-back episodes/stories). Obviously it's not the most note-worthy change, but I thought it was kind of fun. And I've been waiting to see Puzzles for years!

It seemed like a fresh way to tell the story, yet a logical way that you'd tell the story to a friend, trying to capture all the chaos and many different plotlines. That said, they really need to air new episodes more often. I keep forgetting that it's on. Even when I do catch it at the right time, it's often been so long (with so many random reruns in between, and my real life) that I forget what's supposed to be going on; or maybe I'm just too dumb for TV these days. It seems like a lot of shows are following that strategy, so it must just be me. : (

Plus they continue to be a good half a season behind here so we ddownload straight from the US anyway, but that's frustrating to as often we learn they are on yet another break and we have no idea why!

I think this is the most we've seen of her yet (she has a jaw! and blonde hair!). The shot at the very end was really exciting at first, and then really really disappointing, when I finally saw how many umbrellas there were. Looks like we still have a long way to go (though it can't be that long, since the kids are teenagers in 2030, right?)

It just seemed to cut a lot of things off unexpectedly. It sounds like Quinn will be around for a while. From the way it was narrated, it would appear that the kids have met her. Could she eventually marry Barney? Does that mean that we'll meet Ted's wife at the wedding? And has Robin been written off the show? He said that they didn't see each other for a long time, but there's still a chance that we could follow her adventures, and meet up with her later, or have her still talking to the others. I guess it would make some sense to have Quinn as the Robin-character's replacement, but it just seems really sudden. I guess I'm intrigued to see what's coming next, but I'm not really excited about it. It just seems like there's going to be a big shift in the feel of the show as a result.

I feel like it's lost it's way a bit lately and as much as I don't care about the love story as much as I used to, I really would like them to get back to figuring out who the mother is!!
Originally Posted By FerretAfros Well, they're certainly dropping a lot of hints for what's coming up next! It's been thoughly implied in the past that Ted and 'her' meet at Barney's wedding, and it's looking like Barney's wedding is coming up in the near future. Since Barney doesn't want Quinn stripping any more, his only way to stop it is to marry her; he seemed more focused on that in this week's episode than before. And seeing Ted's daughter kind of puts a timeframe on everything. In 3 years, she'll be fairly fresh (within a couple months old), which means that they will have met at leat 2 years from now. However, given the way that everything has gone, I don't think that they meet and get pregnant immediately, so we'll probably meet 'her' fairly soon. I don't know how much longer this season runs, but if we don't meet her at by the end of it, we should meet her at the beginning of the next one! In general, I had begun to get a little tired of the show, since it didn't feel like it was going anywhere and the characters were no longer being true to themselves. In the past few weeks, they've done a great job of turning it back around and getting things moving again. I'm not sure why Ted and Robin aren't talking right now (it seemed like they were just growing apart, but his text acknowledged that they weren't talking) but I'm sure that will be resolved at some point. (And isn't it interesting that in the Star Wars every 3 years retrospect, we never managed to catch Ted in his goatee phase?)

As for the season finale.. Lily and Marshall's baby was a bit whatever, and Barney's proposal to Quinn a little OTT. I suppose the two big moments were Ted driving off with Victoria, which I really didn't see happening and of course, Robin's the bride at Barney's wedding.. I still don't know that this will mean barney and Robin do live happily ever after though.. you know at the start of the episode when Ted's talking to his kids and says 'this brings us to the story of a wedding that went horribly wrong' or something like that.. I still couldn't really establish if he was talking about Victoria's wedding obviously ending badly as she was a no show, or if something will go wrong at Robin and Barney's. Also, it seems to be pretty established that Victoria is not the mother.. so why bring her back AGAIN. I know a few seasons ago the writers admitted they had no idea who the mother was going to be and had intended to make it Stella if they didn't get signed up for another season.. but surely by now they've got an actual plan in mind?

The pilot began with meeting Robin as the first step toward meeting the mother, so it makes sense that it would be Robin's wedding (of course, the series could have started with meeting Barney, but we saw that in a flashback). We know that she plays bass guitar (or at least carries one) and has the yellow umbrella, so it will be interesting to see what other details they pick up!
