If I don't have reserved dining or fastpass viewing where can I go to see the show? I presume it won't be a great angle but where can I hang out on that side of the park without being told to move?

I've probably read something about this but I can't remember at the moment.

Wasn't me - I'm completely clueless when it comes to Ops stuff.

During tech I saw the show from that area and it was actually better than I expected. It was a very different experience to being perpendicular to the screens.

I saw it from that location last night. It was dramatically inferior to seeing it from the viewing area. I can't really counter what you said since I don't know what you expected.

Firs of all, the sound is terrible, as you get a combination of direct sound from an extreme angle out of one set of speakers (almost 90 degrees off to the side), plus echos from a lot of other locations at various amounts of delay.

Second, you can't really see what's projected onto the water screens. In some cases, you can't even tell there is anything being projected. In a few cases, you can make out what's being projected,

Also, the laser effects are maybe 10% of what they are from the front. You can't see Zurg at all, and most of the laser mist/wave effects are invisible. At best, you get a sense of a very poor attempt to add lasers to the show.

Overall, I'd say the view of WoC from the back side of water is about on par with what some people were describing the show as early on: the next incremental step beyond the Bellagio fountains: having more motion and lots of color, but nothing revolutionary.

Only when viewed from the front do you see the full scope of what the show is about. I'm afraid that some people without FPs will view it from the back the first time, and come away with the "incremental Bellagio" impression and not want to see it properly, but other than closing and clearing the boardwalk, it really can't be helped.

I walked around the entire Pier area for the last show a few days ago, and the view from all of those angles outside of Paradise Park ranged from moderately crummy to absolutely horrible. And that's just the visual part of the show. The audio is terrible and echoing, and there is obviously no special effects or little extras.

If you can't watch World of Color from Paradise Park because you don't have a Fastpass, that would be an excellent opportunity to go on Soarin' or go get a Glowtini at Glow Fest.

In short, don't bother and don't for a second believe the smiling Cast Member who invites you to watch the show from the backside of Paradise Pier.

I had **very** low expectations but I thought it was okay - nothing like being perpendicular to the main screen but it wasn't completely pointless. I thought it was better than being at the extremities of the mist screens for F! where you can't see anything.

Obviously it doesn't compare to being in the park. Not my any stretch of the imagination.

Because it is a precision timed show, Disney cannot time delay the areas outside of paradise park to counter the echo. Normally (every concert does this) you use a cross over device that will delay each speaker to either your specs or to factory specs based on the distance from the source (in this case the park) and the listener (those suffering by screaming). The problem with sound delaying WoC so there is no echo is to delay the sound a half a second, it will be off on everything a half a second. The mouth movements on the water, the dramatic water shots, and so on. So rather than making it look like Disney can't program things right, they just fired every speaker simultaneously and called it good. It is a loose loose situation no matter what.

Get most of the mist images, more than a decent view of the fountains and flames, do miss the Pod images and a couple of other parts of the show. And with a little experimenting, found spots where the sound blends extremely well.

Sound was uniformly good. I am baffled by the assertion that the sound outside of PP is horrible. It seems a matter of opinion.

Oh-- there is also no formal "Green" viewing area. Just Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange.

Actually, it's very easy to see where the best, most open viewing areas are, and as for the sound quality, I understand that WOC might still be experimenting with the sound setup to try to make it more attractive for viewing from all around the lagoon, and for all I know next time I go the sound balance may be completely changed.
