This is after telling me he wouldn't be able to see it with my sister and her kids this weekend. So the franchise does appeal to more than just kids.

But it is really fun and worth the price of admission, two or three times.

But danged if it wasn't a pretty good time. At this point I think the expectation of disliking Cars is so strong around a lot of Pixar fans that it'll color their perception. Shame. And yeah, it's not a perfect film, but compared to 99% of movies released every year...it's a good time. I'll see Cars 2. I may or may not like it, but I'm happy to give it a shot.

Lots of giggles from the audience and smiles on the faces of everyone I was viewing with. I really enjoyed it however I also sort of wish they had saved a Toy Story short for a different film, one that wasn't a sequel. I love the Toy Story films and it was fantastic to see them all again but I somehow felt a little ripped off.. I don't Pixar to just milk their existing characters to death - an original short before a sequel would have been nice.. 'You don't have to like it...kids do' True, but our whole night out was a special treat for Master Four, who is about to become a big brother.. his parents are currently on one wage, struggling to pay a mortgage and bills plus the costs of a newborn ( due last weekend!) If they hadn't enjoyed the first one, I don't they'd have forked out the $18 a ticket each, plus $14 for him to see it.. He absolutely loved it, enough that he will keep asking for toys and clothes etc associated with the franchise but he certainly wont be taken to the film a second time and his Mum will definitely be telling some of her friends with similar aged children to wait for the DVD..

Now seeing how critics have mostly pounced on it, I'm actually more interested to see it for myself. I kind of wonder if some haven't been hoping for a chance to knock Pixar from its perch. And Roger Ebert liked it, someone who tends to like the same films I do, so now I'm more curious than ever.
