I guess Scrooge Mc Duck had a plan going on with the Disney 'Royals' to outsmart the mice with a roll of the dice and the princesses won. It's very sad...

The fad of seeing where the Mouse and Friends live might be just wearing off as the Royal gals seem to make far more money for Disney at the moment.

Personally, I wouldn't have minded seeing Toontown Fair stick around (well, at least the two houses and the coaster) as long as they EXPANDED on the theme big time and added at least one major attraction (or at least a "C" or "D" ticket dark ride) to the land. Well, not gonna happen now...

If only! Then there would have been a reason for guests without kids to actually spend time there. Oh, well. A another decade-old "temporary" part of WDW bites the dust.

Can we get rid of the big blue hat and the futuristic cemetary next?

I know I jump in every time this is mentioned, but I just have to say that while I can't stand the BAH (well, it's a nice hat in the wrong location), I'm still a big fan of the Epcot entryway obelisks, if for no other reason than my smiling face has been there greeting Epcot visitors since 1999!

I would doubt that I will live that long.

It was something I picked up on a while ago when I noticed a trend and i equally apply it to Fantasyland and DCA's expansions - I wont beleive it until I see it. Both have sections that are fabled "phase 2" that I doubt will see the light of day.

I agree. Things that seemed everybody agreed upon, and were offered up as to what was going to happen, are now just maybes or undecided.

As a perfect example I can't tell you how many times I read Barnstormer was going to be built around a clown based theme. Now it seems it's up in the air. Nobody knows what will be built.

I get the impression they are going to show up with no plans, and see what becomes of it as they rework the ride.

I believe that was in 1990 when Mickey's Birthdayland was "converted" into Mickey's Starland. Birthdayland opened in 1988 as tribute to Mickey's 60th birthday and was supposed to only be a temporary addition. However, the Mouse's house proved to be more popular than they thought (or so it was spun by Disney), thus keeping the house as a permanant attraction. The popularity of the house at WDW, not mention the huge popularity of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" heavily inspired the building of Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland. Unfortunately, Mickey's Starland didn't get the full expansion treatment into Toontown, thus expanded into the lackluster Toontown Fair in 1996. Minnie's House, Donald's Boat, and the Barnstormer all opened during this period. I don't think a Roger Rabbit ride was ever going to be a part of Toontown for WDW as they had other bigger plans for him at the Disney/MGM Studios. Some of the proposed rides for the Studios which were to be located where Rock n' Roller Coaster is now included within Maroon Cartoon Studios were a Roger Rabbit's Toontown Trolley simulator attraction and Baby Herman's Runaway Baby Buggy indoor roller coaster ride. I don't know for sure if a Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin was ever planned for WDW, but it would have been a nice addition to the Magic Kingdom or Studios. Sadly, none of those attractions ever came to be.

My personal feeling, if Disney had expanded the area into a full blown Toontown like Disneyland, it would not be a part of this Fantasyland redo project and the Fab Five and Friends would still have a 'land' in the Magic Kingdom. To me, the funniest (and somewhat sadder) part of all this expansion is that the company's founding icon is being given the old "heave-ho"! I guess that the princesses sell more merchandise than the Mouse does now...
