I love Disneyland USA [Anaheim CA] I go about once a month. It's mostly about nostalgia for me. I dont need to know the daily operating schedules, or how many burnt out light bulbs were spotted yesterday at the park. I don't have to see behind the partitions while construction is going on at attractions. I don't scan the web to see behind the scenes pictures. I just enjoy the going to Disneyland. I have many fond memories of my childhood and watching my daughter grow up through the years at Disneyland.

I don't care about Disney movies or Disney characters, I'll go see them, but I am definitely not obsessed with them. I've bought a few Disney DVDs, we had many Disney children's video's when DD was younger.

I do collect DisneyLAND memorabilia, but only a certain category, which is vintage rare items. For a while I was obsessed with old Disneyland souvenirs, I still like them, but only certain ones. I have a lot of DisneyLAND paper and ephemera, but I stopped caring about it. It's all been in boxes and I keep saying that I'm going to get rid of. I don't buy the latest Disney collectibles. I did collect pins for a while in 2000, but burned out after about 1,000 pins. I have a few DisneyLAND shirts and jackets, but as a general rule I don't buy Disney clothing.

I *am* interested in DisneyLAND history, I have books and articles about DisneyLAND, but I am not all that concerned with the history of Disney as a whole or the business side of Disney company.

And especially with the advent of the Internet, and other 'Obsessed Disney Nerds' out there, I don't think I've been TRULY OBSESSED since I was 12 years old.

<-- Pardon me while I recite the 'Country Bear Jamboree' original show by heart.

I have to say the only deep planning I go into is WDW. ;P

I also love helping people plan their trip and share with them my experiences at different Disney dining places.. I wish I worked at CRO Orlando.. LOL. OTH, I really want to see Yosemite and move back home to the bay area.. oh well.

While not necessarily a need for every month (especially not Disneyland) I do like going several times a year.

I definitely wouldn't call going to a fun destination like WDW obsessed. There's so much to see and do.. and every experience is different. There's so much at WDW we haven't done yet. So I can see us going there again and again.. and then again. ;P Maybe it might be different if we lived by the park... (I've had serious periods of time where I was absolutely tired of DLR *shock!* but that might do with proximity).

The thing that surprised me is why doesn't my mom go more often?? She lives in Florida yet her only park experiences are when we come to town.. she needs to go more often. ;P

So yeah, non-LP people think that's "obsessed" :p

Maybe those who don't or can't get to the parks often but are into the other aspects get a "plus" - like "Mild Mousketeer Plus." :-D

Shiva, I'm amazed that anyone would be a "Disney poser." Maybe they're just trying to impress you, specifically?

LuLu, I was referring to people who are not quite as big of fans as what they think they are, not that they're pretending to be. I had thought I made that clear in post #8 and even cited 2 examples of people I know. Trust me, nobody was trying to impress me. I don't quite understand the leap to that one.

I guess to me, poser means pretending. The fact that someone enjoys relaxing at their hotel doesn't compute with being a poser to me. But, I think you and I are on completely different wavelengths.

    >>Trust me, nobody was trying to impress me.<<

They must have been trying to impress *someone* b/c you said they wanted people to think they were big fans. I can't imagine why anyone would have that as a goal, except possibly with someone who's a bigger fan than they.

I think we live in different worlds, and I need to stop trying to understand what you post!

We do, sometimes I think you give me too much credit. I'm really a fairly simple person, what you see is what you get. The park also means something different to me than it does to you. Different doesn't mean inferior, it's just different. I admittedly am more obsessed with the park than you are but that doesn't mean you love it less. I understand vacations and relaxation but if I'm vacationing at DL, I'm going to be in DL. I'll be there when the turnstiles open and leave when Security walks me out the gate. I just have a difficult time understanding how someone who can only make it to DL once every 2 years, has a Disney house and is always saying how much they love the park could come to DL and spend less than 2 hours a day in the park because they want to take a nap or lay out by the pool. It just doesn't make sense to me.
I wouldn't want a McDonald's hamburger in the DCA because I know I could do that anywhere. The same goes for vacation destinations. I could do that anywhere but not at DL. I may have to re-evaluate my level of obsession, I see I am rapidly creeping into TRULY OBSESSED.
