And it's silly to say I'm the same as them. Let's look at it this way:

I'd estimate that the people who whined about the President's speech to school kids, who donated money to Joe Wilson, who walk around with signs of the President as Hitler, etc., etc., make up roughly 20%-25% of the U.S. population. They're a minority to be sure, but they're a large enough minority that they get some attention and cause plenty of damage.

Now let's say out of those 20%-25%, roughly 30%-40% are racists. That's roughly 8% - 10% of the population as a whole.

Are you telling me it's unreasonable to assume that 8% to 10% of the U.S. population is racist?

So, assuming conservatively that even 15% of the country is part of or sympathetic to this whole wacky movement of "Obama as Hitler," "Keep Obama away from my kids, etc," that means some 50% of the Republican party is made up of these insane people.

And if you look at polls of people who identify as Republican, and say, birthers, the numbers bear me out. So can we please stop with the silliness of "Oh, golly! It's just a few wackos doing this!" It's a HUGE part of the Republican party, and the data backs that up.

There ya go. Actual polls that bear me out. Depending on the poll you follow, a majority or very large minority of Republicans are "birthers" or at least aren't sure if Obama was born in the United States.
