That's what I was talking about. It's a travesty they're knocking it down.

    Preach on Brother Skipper!
Closing the Adventurers Club is the dumbest thing Disney has ever done. It has cost them money and, more importantly, good will by the ton.

I think it's just so telling how they have dealt with the whole thing.
Guests say, "We want the Adventurers Club back."
Disney says, "We don't care what you want. We are going to give you what we want to give you."

    How very....un-Disney. How DIS-appointing.

It's still there. It could be reopened in rather short order.
Swallow your pride TDO. Give the guests what they want.
    Save the Adventurers Club!

I have to be hjonest the last time I was there I walked to the West Side - ( God knows why) and the only people it seemed like were there were survey takers- Shops we empty- and to borrow term from Spirit- it seemed ghetto like. It was sad--so I am glad they are doing something with it..

I suspect that several of the props will wind up in the new Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam's at the DLH, the way that Disney is describing this establishment. And if any of those artifacts belonged to Rohde, I suspect he'll be taking them back in the near future, if he hasn't done so already.

with the deep discounts on everything from food to rooms ..I'm thinking there are lots of peoiple and less profit for all involved.

I can't comment on the COmedy Club because I never went there- I went to the Adventurers club twice- I had no issue with it. It's not whjy I ( the family) went to WDW but again as much love as it gets it seems like it should have survived

I'd say it's very typical of Disney in the 21st century.

What don't you get about them not wanting guests like yourself anymore? Do you need a Disney exec to tell you so? (if so, I have a few who are perfect for the job since they have told me the same thing ...)

You either enjoy the MAGICal grass and chips (jokes anyone? c'mon?) or you can go elsewhere.

They are smarter than you and all of their guests and they know what's best. You shouldn't question any of their decisions.

Let it go, buddy. It's deader than Liz Taylor (too soon?) But it will be reincarnated in some form in HK.

Now ... I heard you were spotted earlier this week lubing up a yeti ;-)

In the know?!??! He is a super MAGICal special guest on fanboi podcasts. Trust me on this one ... I had to sit in front of a fountain last weekend while he spewed his 'wisdom' ;-)

I've heard that many are headed (or already there) to HKDL for use in the AC there and possibly Mystic Manor as well. Some could wind up at Trader Sam's as well, but I haven't heard they would.

No, but that was also part of their problems. They weren't nearly as popular with the general public as they were with fanbois and CMs, especially as the years went on. And many of those folks, frankly, took over the clubs like they were home all the while either not buying drinks or nursing a Coke all night.

I'm sad to see them gone, but only in the context of PI being dead.

So, you go back to when there was an admission price for the Island and in the beginning it was a big hit. They eliminated the admission price as attendance started to freefall but that did nothing to increase sales in the individual clubs.

You have to think that both the Comedy Warehouse and the Adventurer's Club were the two costliest clubs to run because of the staffing levels. I don't think the "entertainers" in either place were making minimum wage. In fact, I recall talking to one of the comedians who said he had a contract. I'm assuming the actors in the Adventurer's Club had a similar arrangement.

So, in two clubs that had to really count on alcohol sales to pay for the operation it doesn't seem a stretch to think that they couldn't make ends meet.

But, I'm sure I am injecting way too much common sense into the discussion.
