I can see there will be no reasoning with you. Not much different than many other topics. I apologize for derailing the thread but I don't apologize for being offended by the word and it's use. I was just expressing my feelings and I was not the first to express that. It hit a nerve with quite a few people. I think I'd think about that.

I apologize that my knowledge of urban terminology and pop culture exceeds most of you, but not for my use of such terminology...now that I've educated you guys I feel we can put this little misunderstanding behind us and continue with the topic at hand...if you do not wish to post on "low budget food that you have desperately eaten.." YOU leave...I created this topic and I don't need your permission to stay or leave. I don't need attention from you guys, that's kinda funny, I don't even know any of you personally. Besides, I get plenty attention here at home...this is just fun for me...

You're right, I don't get it. First it's insulting that I used the word "ghetto" to describe low budget food...when I SHOWED you where I got this term from and the fact that I'm using the term correctly, it's still "wrong" your right...what's the problem here?

Most of my classmates respected that...It does hurt when I hear words like "gringa/gringo" or "ghostface" it doesn't have the hate background that so many other racial slurs do have so I can't imagine those who have been through generations of hate because of their race or background and I respect that more than ever being where I grew up. The area that I've lived in and even where I live now (upper middle class area...yeah, made it!)the term "ghetto" is NOT offensive. I'm sorry that I didn't take into consideration that perhaps others in other areas of the country take EXTREME offense to that word. I seriously do NOT put that word on the same level as the "f" word or the "n" word for that matter. If you see it that way, I do apologize. I really didn't know what the hullaballoo was all about. I felt, hey, I grew up poor in the ghetto, all my friends use the term "ghetto fabulous" and ghetto casserole like it's nothing...being we grew up in it...I'm really sorry.

We had cinnamon toast at least once a month or so in my house when we were growing up. Good stuff, but OINLY if on wheat bread (I never liked white). And I only like peanut butter & crackers if it's chunky PB and I have a nice tall glass of milk to go with.
