    ^^ That actually reminds me of something my buddy Damian makes at the holidays.... it's a cookie made of um, butter, flour, and sugar - I think that's it. And then homemade buttercreme frosting... almost no taste tot he cookies, but they're kind of like a moist crackery texture.

    Ahh, college memories!

    also Campbell's soup- it was alot cheaper then. Cheap bread and surplus cheese (cheap stuff they sold because it was a government program to help the farmers out - and starving college students!)

    My dad used to make meatloaf and put all the leftovers in the fridge in it as not to "waste" any food. He would put anything from mushed up chicken pot pie to fish sticks in the meatloaf! My family would also make a soup with fridge leftovers like spinich, vege's leftover "meat" of any kind.

    No, it was because of the whole contorversy about my choice of words. I commented on your post using apparent foul/insulting language which I eventually apologized (sincerely) for. I believe the whole chain of posts that were a part of the heated bantering were removed. Sorry, it was my fault your post was removed.

On leftover night, everything got popped in the oven, still in foil, to reheat. They came to the table still in foil. Whatever foil packet you put on your plate, was dinner.

    That's fun! Sort of like a "surprise"...There's nothing wrong with leftovers. I realize that now as a mom myself, sometimes it makes me sick to have to throw food away in my fridge. My mom has a fit when she comes over and sees me throwing food away...she's always like...WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? let's make some stock, that's going in soup! Too funny. I like the foil surprise approach, maybe I'll try that.

One thing my mom always bought was Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup. I ate so much of that stuff growing up that I don't think I could ever eat it again. It took years for me to eat boxed macaroni and cheese, scrambled eggs, VandeKamp's frozen enchiladas and to this day I still won't eat bologna. We didn't have a microwave in the mid-1970s so we couldn't heat up frozen meals fast.

    Now if I had been smart I would have opened one of my mom's many cookbooks and learned how to cook then instead of waiting until I got older.
