That's true. I am a bit tired of it too. You have a thread about the current Prez having a speaking role in the HoP and somehow you aren't allowed to say anything even vaguely political?

I don't like when posts disappear in the dark of night like they never existed.

    >> Only if Sarah Palin accepts my offer to come to my BBQ! <<

    <<....and you didn't invite me? :-( >>

She didn't show up ... and I really wanted to meet Bristol and the baby with the law firm name ... so there was no BBQ!

    >> I could let others tell me ... but I like to make decisions for myself. <<

<<It normally doesn't take me 2 or 3 hours to decide if a person is worth listening to. A couple of visits to a persons web site or watching interviews give me a pretty good reference on what that person is about. I just didn't turn on Fox news, and decide I was not particularly interested in Michael Moore's, and Bill Maher's rhetoric.>>

OK ... so who's rhetoric are you interested in? ;-)

    >> But guess what? I have listened to him from time to time ... and even used to watch his TV show when he had it and when it was on in SoFla (seemed like the whole purpose was to attack Bubba and Hillary on a nightly basis, but I found him amusing). <<

<<Would you expect someone on the right to praise the Clintons? That would be like Chevy Chase doing his Gerald Ford impersonation without tripping, and falling.>>

Perhaps. But if someone wants to earn my respect in politics they need to step away from being mindless followers of any party. People on the right are already talking about the election of 2012. That's absurd when our country is in such dire need of action -- bipartisan action. I wasn't a huge fan of our governor Charlie Crist, but it took a lot of guts for him to support our Prez instead of a partisan agenda and that really earned him a lot of respect from this Spirit.

Someone like Rush has never said a kind word about anyone who isn't a Republican. He is divisive for no other reason than to be so. The idea that all members of one party are bad people is ridiculous. But I know people who are like that ... they treat politics like a religion and they refuse to support anyone from the other side.

There has NEVER been an election I have voted it where I didn't vote for members of both parties, as well as independents from time to time.

<<You would have probably tried Morton Downey Jr. also. You seem to be a glutton for punishment.>>

I LOVED Mort. He was over the top. I used to ROFLMAO before that phrase had even been coined watching him go back and forth with women's lib attorney Gloria Alred.

The thing is ... I got the distinct idea he knew he was over the top and that he didn't believe half of what he said.

Take a Limbaugh or a Moore and compare them to him. There's no doubt to me that those guys believe every word they are saying like it's gospel.

    >> I think what I am trying to say is I wouldn't say Rush was an ass without at least listening to the man a bit and seeing just how hateful, ignorant and vile he is. <<

<<That's exactly how I feel about Michael Moore, and Bill Maher. I've listen to them more than enough to get a since of where they are coming from.>>

I think Maher shouldn't really be grouped with the Lambaughs and Moores of the world ... and while I don't find him pleasant in person (oops, I guess I am telling you I have met him a few times), I do agree with most of his views ... and I find his arguments (you might call it rhetoric) to be intelligent and well thought out. He also tends to rip people on all ends of the spectrum, which again engenders my respect because I am an equal opportunity offender myself! :)

I'm going to try and have BBQ tomorrow in one of the few bastions of rednecks left in my area if that makes you feel better.

That is one question. Another would be how long will it stick around even when America is 'over Idol.'

I think it has legs so long as the show is on TV and relevant.

But if Idol ends its run in say 2013, Disney isn't going to be able to keep the attraction going ... not only won't it have the golden ticket to be won, but no one will care.

<<If you now throw in that little family coaster, I forgot the name. Revamp the backlot tour to a walking tour. Throw in a major e-ticket Cars attraction, Get Star Tours II up and running, and we are talking big time Theme Park then.>>

You're not asking for much are ya?

Of course this park is going to need it ... and I think Disney is concerned that this is the park that will take the biggest hit from Harry Potter at IOA ... I am not so sure. I think people may finally push away from MK or EPCOT instead.

    Yeah. And it's sickening.

And it does seem to have really gained steam in the past 10-15 years.

When I was a kid, talk radio wasn't a big deal. The only 'agenda' talk show was by Phil Donahue, who at least provided a chance for the other side to speak. And network news existed to tell the news ... not spread anyone's agenda.

All that and the MK was a better place too!
