The plans are real and are very exciting. Disneyland isn't gonna be able to handle the crowds that will be showing up to see the new Star Wars stuff it's gonna be THAT good.

Could that really be the reason?

I'm not sure who pointed it out first, but there are a lot of clues that indicate that could be the case. Al's opinions tended to be in line with what Tony has said publically, and he often reported on Tony's projects long before projects from other Imagineers. He typically reported favorably on things that Tony was involved with. Much of the information seemed to be coming from somebody with a lot of experience with the Company, who was privy to upper-level discussions. And it seemed like the information started to run out around the time that Tony retired. It could all be coincidence, but there does seem to be some parallels

    >>WDI is waiting for some story details from episode VII.<<

This sounds much more plausible than anything related to a botched NextGen rollout. And assuming there are delays with the film, they would have a little extra time to build the attractions and still have it open in conjunction with the new movie

Disney only acquired the rights to SW in Winter 2012 and spent most of 2013 Blue Skying concepts. What they have now are a few competing proposals that are pretty similar to one another but have a few small differences. Once a final proposal is signed off on work will begin (this will happen within the next 6-12 months). I have no idea when an official announcement will be made or when physical construction will begin but the project has it's own budget and will be fully completed and open to the public around Winter '16 or Summer '17

It does't matter what the timeframe is on a project, when rights were acquired or what budgets may be/have been. A project can be put on hold or cancelled at any time depending on a number of situations. Of course, they can also be restarted at any time.

But, in this situation, for whatever reason, the noted projects are NOT currently being worked on.

And, of course, there will NEVER be any construction started until a concept has been entirely developed and all appropriate drawings produced to work off of.

Star Wars is an active project with its own budget. It's like saying all of Pixar and Disney's new movies are on hold because of My Magic plus. Its completely separate.

For the record MM+ is a huge fiasco and money drain but for Miceage to use it as a scapegoat to save face is wrong. They falsely reported that Monstropolis and all these other projects were ready to go when they were literally just ideas shared during a pitch meeting. They are also attempting to rile up people and get clicks by stating SW Land is on hold because of MM+.

I don't mean to pick on anyone since that phrase is just part of the Internet lexicon these days...but that's just the point. NONE of this is "for the record." This whole story couldn't be less "for the record" if it tried. There's an unsigned article on a fan site saying projects are on hold. There's people using pseudonymous names on other fan boards saying, in essence, "Nuh uh!" and "Uh huh!" and somehow people are supposed to feel informed about Disney's plans?

I anxiously await a future Miceage article where I hear A) The plans are back on! or B) Still on hold! or C) Canceled altogether! Regardless, they'll be right there to bring me the story that they can't possibly be wrong about...no matter if it has any basis in reality or not.

"Unsigned" is the key word here.

Projects have been cancelled or put on hold for numerous reasons. The current situation may or may not be due to budgets. It may be due to their wanting to wait for the next Star Wars movie as noted earlier.

Star Wars is just NOT an active project at present.

I just look at how nutty some of the ideas are - like Astro Orbitor on top of Space Mountain's concourse - and immediately think - Ya, their brains are just rattling off ideas, no matter how stupid they are!

Like this stomach-inducing stupid idea for the Peoplemover track:

    <a target="blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-WfYZuoRV3sw/TqnlWYbF-zI/AAAAAAAABMI/Sbp_sKoIYIU/s720/Gyro%2520scoping%2520PM%2520ride.jpg">http://lh4.googleusercontent.c...ride.jpg</a>

There are some ideas that should never leave the "Blue Sky Concept" room ... and be forgotten!
