Actually, some ideas should have NEVER gotten into the "Blue Sky Concept" room. Of course, some of the rumors - Astro Orbitor on the Space Mountain concourse - have never gotten there as Imagineers know it would never be able to be installed there.

Well... actually, the current Astro Orbiter COULDN'T go back up where the old Rocket Jets were. They'd have to tear down, and completely rebuild that entire structure from below ground up to support it.

Putting the Falcon up on the concourse would also entail some major structural rework of the facility.

Naturally ... any future remodel of Tomorrowland is going to require some substantial complete reconstruction. If not the whole land, at least parts of it.

You're never going to get that square peg into that round hole. No matter how hard you try.

Add Shanghai Disneyland to the mix and Hong Kong's Iron Man attraction and Imagineering have a lot of large scale projects going on all at once. Disney will want the Star Wars projects for Tomorrowland and DHS to start around the same time going by similar projects of recent times. Not to mention anything the Tokyo Disney Resort might be working on for its own Parks. Star Tours and Toy Story Mania. With the opening of Cars Land only last year plus the Princess Fantasy Faire and Mickey Show all opening up recently. The Mouse will want a return on its investment before building anything further. Simply at the moment Star Wars is not a priority for either US Disney Park. And DCA is doing fine now without the need for a Monstropolis.

The big problem with people and these Miceage updates is that some people are failing to question anything written by these guys. And are taking everything written by them as fact. Al no longer writes the articles. The material written is thanks to Todd (Dustysage) and Norman (Fishbulb).

I agree. While it seems like Buzz and Star Tours mean that the 1955 buildings are here to stay, most of the land could be up for major changes. For example, I see no reason that they must keep the Space Mountain concourse as it is, meaning they could tear out EO, the Starcade, and Redd Rocket's and have a huge chunk of space to deal with. They would only need to provide sightlines to Space Mountain and a small path for its queue and exit, but they could do almost anything there; it seems like it could easily be room for 2-3 new attractions

And having crappy parks wouldn't leave a bad impression on the first time visitor? I think they would be much more likely to come back if they knew change was underway, rather than just seeing a skeleton of a park with no future. Also, most guests don't see WDW's DTD and the DAK construction will be self-contained so most guests won't notice it across the river from Discovery Island. More plausably, there aren't enough of the right construction workers in the Orlando area, but that's never stopped Disney before

    >>The Mouse will want a return on its investment before building anything further.<<

This I believe, but they haven't invested anything in WDW yet. The NextGen system is an independent project from the operations team, so it's not really tied to the regular CapEx funds. And the DLR construction isn't going to turn a profit at WDW; no matter how much they push the "One Disney" thing, things like this just won't happen. If they want to see a return from the Florida parks, they need to make an investment in the Florida parks

Design on Shanghai should be just about done by now. The vast majority of Imagineering is artists and engineers who spend their days in cubicles, not construction managers who work at the construction site. Yes, they have a presence there, but with a 2-3 year design timeframe, most people have moved to other things long before they've opened to the public

That's a big problem anywhere online. Just look at the outrage when people read a headline of a story without actually reading the details; it happens all the time. It seems like the ability to read things critically has been lost in recent years. A lot of the things in recent updates are plausible, but there are also a lot that just don't pass the "sniff test"; if it seems completely insane on first instinct, it probably is

That's what I assumed based on how strongly they defended the content in the comment section, and the writing style similar to In The Parks. It sure would be nice if they were a little more transparent about the authors though, since it really lacks credibility; they could even make up a new persona to say is the author, but having a mysterious unnamed source quoting other mysterious unnamed sources just doesn't fly for me

The whole thunder mtn not opening till feb sounded made up but it did happen.I didn't believe it until it came from the company it's self which I do with ANY rumor.

It depends of your defination of crappy Parks. WDW still blows most of the competition away. The only reason we give them a lot of criticism is because we see other Disney Parks in Tokyo, Hong Kong and California and Universal doing a much better job of not only keeping things fresh but also creating some some rather good new attractions. The average WDW visitor still very much enjoys the experience. And even for my recent visit I had a fantastic time. Animal Kingdom will also being doing extensive work to the Tree of Life to not only get it ready for the new night-time entertainment but also address the falling branch issue that resulted in all that fencing going up around the Tree. I would also expect areas around the Tree will need to be altered to handle the capacity for such a show. And I have been told that the Parade will be retiring soon for undisclosed reasons. While I'm confident Disney will make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum. I don't think you can rule out that the Park will suffer over the next three years.

I agree but I do think WDW did spend a good amount of money on New Fantasyland. Shame about the offerings. Although very excited about the Seven Dwarfs Coaster opening next year. I also think Disney are spending a decent amount on Downtown Disney and Disney Animal Kingdom. The recent financial results did look good across the entire Parks. And I think investment for Studios will follow. It just won't be as quick as we would like it to be sadly.

Our old friend Spirit over on another board is suggesting that Shanghai is actually behind schedule and that's part of the reason Imagineers were pulled away from the Star Wars projects. Unfortunately you would never see any of this mention on MiceChat.

I was a victim to one of Dusty's rants over on a Facebook post for questioning the credibility of what was written. For the most part I enjoy the MiceChat site. But what I appreciate about Al was that he wouldn't take to the message boards straight after writing a news blog and defending what was written. These two have a lot to learn. Sadly while Al no longer writes he does over see the content and gives his approval.

That doesn't surprise me too much. I've had several of my posts Admin'ed or permanently "awaiting moderation" for questioning basic facts, or giving fact corrections. For example, in a recent update they claimed that the new WOC would be DCA's first attempt to answer DL's holiday Believe and F!, I reminded them (in an admittedly semi-sarcastic way) about LuminAria from 2001; the post was taken down within an hour or two, and the original text in the article was slightly revised despite no notation that the article had been edited

    >>But what I appreciate about Al was that he wouldn't take to the message boards straight after writing a news blog and defending what was written.<<

I agree that there's a lot of credibility that comes from that. Real journalists don't typically respond to the comment section, and if they want to be taken seriously they should really consider how they react to things. Right now it comes off as crazed fanboys in a "nuh-huh" vs "uh-huh" fight
