I'm not surprised ideas like that were tossed around. But, it does make more sense for those parks to be separate. You have to admit sometimes the parks, especially WDW's parks, appear trending toward homogenization. Here a Pixar character, there a Pixar character, everywhere a Pixar character, Pixar character.

Well considering that Disney just bought Lucasfilm a Star Wars themed land (or park) might not be a fantasy after all.

Somneone call Mr Cameron and tell him we now have a real sci fi franchise

I certainly hope not. I'd love to see both Avatar and Star Wars as fully developed attractions/lands at the parks.

Yeah, maybe ditch Carsland and go full throttle with Star Wars for DHS.

It could explain why the Avatar plans are light if they're just one part of a new land rather than a whole land on their own!!!

There is also the risk that the sequels will bomb, especially if they feel disjointed from the original trilogy.

The biggest problem with sequels is that the original actors are WAY too old to reprise their roles. Will audiences accept new actors portraying Luke, Leia and Han? Its hard to say.

Exactly. I'd love to see them set the new films 30 or 40 years after Episode VI. That way the original actors could be in them with age-appropriate roles.

Just keep Carrie Fisher out of that bikini! ;-)

Why would they feel disjointed? Lucasfilm isn't closing down in San Francisco. There may be some internal shakeups, but it's likely that the same teams there now will be working on the next movie. Besides, from what I've heard, Lucas has already written the three episodes following Return of The Jedi.

If they do that, then I really hope they move way forward in time. I really wouldn't want to see someone else trying to play Luke, Leia or Han in a direct sequel - which is what they are implying by calling this Star Wars Episode VII.

What they did with Star Trek worked so well because they kind of did a total reboot. If this new Star Wars movie is supposed to be in the same continuity as the last 6 films, then I think trying to recast the lead roles would be a mistake.
