    The time gap between Episode III and Episode IV was what, like 20 years, right? So why can't they do that again?

    It's been relatively-well known for many years that Lucas had intended the Star Wars movies to be a trilogy of trilogies, so wouldn't that mean that he's probably had a pretty good story concept in place for a couple decades by now? I'm not nearly familiar enough with the brand to know what the final trilogy is/was *supposed* to be, but I doubt that Disney producing it would cause any major changes to the setting.
