The lady I may have noticed before, I wasn't sure, but I can tell you that she is very bright, like perhaps they have improved on her effects a little. Maybe they are going to do all of them like that, or maybe she is part of the new storyline so they wanted to make her stand out ? I'm just guessing. She is near the fireplace.

Also, there are a lot of framed pictures of the hitchiking ghosts as you go down the first hallway. They are very bright and new looking, improved upon perhaps ?

Just to be clear, Paul Frees is the Ghost Host. Thurl Ravenscroft is the bass voice singing Grim, Grinning Ghosts.

And actually, the only reason that bothers me is because I feel like it ruins the ride for people riding it for the first time. Since I've ridden it a bunch of times I already know the script so it doesn't really matter, but for the first timers it's nice to hear it from the actual "ghost host" not the person standing next to you.

I think it could actually be a pleasant way of showing the dedication and special place that the ride has to the unitiated.

At this point the ride is such a part of our shared culture that people have memorized the script verbatim, and it is an effective way of displaying to first time riders just how important it is to us all.

It's like a public highlight marker for someone who might not know to appeciate its significance otherwise.

Another gripe, and its been a gripe since I worked it decades ago, packing the ER's and stacking the Portrait Hallway totally ruins the build up of the attraction to come.

I disagree. In my opinion, this is just a way to try and justify the selfish and obnoxious behavior people have displayed in the past.

If the designers of this attraction wanted people to talk along with the audio track, they would pass out transcripts and little flashlights at the entrance for people to read along.

I'll say it again: It's not cute, it's no impressive, and it's not clever. Please be quiet.

However, the sounds seemed cleaner and easier to hear and everything looked "neat n pretty" It was great to see it looking so good...but I think when rumors of huge changes are thrown out there withouth verification from DL, the sensible thing to do is wait and see what they have done.

Well, I was hoping that it would be all dusty, but I geuss they could go for a clean Mansion too. : )

There have always been pictures in the corridor of doors, but in the past, they have just been generic faces. Some were concept art that was slightly tweaked to fit in, and others were photos of a ghost face, with different hats and expressions to look like different faces. Here's some pictures of what they looked like:

I'd like to disclose that I'm not one who chants along before you think I'm trying to justify my own actions.

I am also not encouraging others to do it out of obligation. That would cause it to lose its charm.

I do however think that people doing it because they like the attraction and have visited enough times to memorize it can make it feel more special to a visitor.

I'm not talking about mocking the voice, but those who have a sincere apprecation for the ride and repeat the narration out of enthusiasm; that's something that doesn't annoy me at all.

If they like it so much, let them use their inside voices. And I'm no mind-reader, but I betcha most of the morons who shout along are those obnoxious types of fans who need to PROVE to the world that THEY are big fans of something. Congratulations. You're cooler than me because you can recite the Haunted Mansion. Ugh. Unless you have tourettes, keep your mouth shut.

And what's next? If I go see a movie, should I be OK if the guy sitting next to me is reciting dialogue while I'm simply trying to enjoy the film? Am I supposed to appreciate his love (nay, society's love!) for the film and let it go? There's nothing "special" about it.

Can't I just pay for my ticket amd enjoy some entertainment without it turning into the Rocky Horror Mansion Show?

Okay, I did see one or two of those, but I believe I also saw some different ones as well. I am going again tomorrow, so I will look again and let you know.
