And the merch isn't doing well in WDW. <<MSEP was brought back and played to two packed shows all summer.>> So? They could roll out a custodial CM with a flashlight and it would play to two packed shows all summer as long as it was marketed as a "Nighttime Extravaganza!"

Also, I'm with EE on this Tiki Room situation. It's now or never to bring back the original show (40th anniversary). Surprise us Phil!

That was dead. And the Merch is doing well, why do you think they still have that cart there? And as for MSEP... no secret that you hate the thing. LOL. regardless of it's age, it has remained popular, and is going to be at the MK for another year and a half. It could have gone back when Nightastic ended, but it's not. >>>Also, I'm with EE on this Tiki Room situation. It's now or never to bring back the original show (40th anniversary). MSEP being retro has absolutely nothing to do with it's popularity.

My strong hunch is that it is pulling in slightly more folks than HISTA did. But that's probably more novelty at this point. Folks who never saw it or don't know what it is. That's no justification for bringing back something ancient. <<MSEP was brought back and played to two packed shows all summer.>> Did it? I doubt it. I'm pretty sure it did what it did last time it was there and what Spectro regularly does. Namely, it played to a crowd (most nights) during its first showing and then played to a vastly smaller audience the second time around. I wonder what a new parade would do. <<I see no reason that would keep crowds away from a refreshed and "retro" Tiki Room. >> No one but fanbois (and they aren't significant enough at WDW to make any difference) would care about a 'retro' anything. The original show was replaced because it didn't fit with WDW's visitors in the 1990s. With so much on the 'menu' at WDW, the days where people are willing to sit through 20-minute AA shows seems over. People need to head to their FP for Space Mtn, get to Chef Mickey's for dinner and then over to ride the RnRC and ToT before getting up at 5:45 a.m. to run down to the food court with their magical mugs for coffee. Tiki Room did fine when WDW was allowed to be experienced at a slower pace in the 70s and 80s, but that place no longer exists. Anaheim is different, which you'll know when you get out there.

Disney has said its toons/characters/franchises belong anywhere and everywhere. And, FWIW, Stitch is a good fit by those metrics in the Tiki Room (works in TDL) and Nemo is a good fit in the Seas. Now, if you want to argue the point the parks shouldn't be Walmarted with toons everywhere, then I think you're right. The rest is just wasted energy.

Amazing that TWDC doesn't think its consumers deserve more than a 1973 parade with one new float (created to whore the Fairies franchise) while TDL, which debutted the amazing Dreamlights parade a decade ago and has updated it once already (not including the dreaded holiday overlay) is about to update it again.

DL did the same thing, they cut a number out of it. It's a shame, though, 20 mins would be nice.

How many of you remember the last few years of the original show - mostly empty performances with as many as half of those walking out. No, as much as I would like to see it - it just makes now sense no matter how you look at it. Most people just aren't interested. And as much as we would like to think differently, we are a very small percentage of the daily WDW guest base. However, I would definitely be happy with an imaginative new show in the Tiki Room which pays homage to the original (must have the original theme song) but with a good new story. Assuming there are at least some imagineers left with imagination? The worst would be to see yet another shuttered building that could house an attraction.
