Sure, they're not "WOW" type attractions like Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, etc, but like the Tiki Room or Country Bears, they add that sense of overall quality that rounds out why I love the Magic Kingdom and Disney theme parks in general. The large "E-Tickets" draw me in, while the smaller attractions make it a well rounded visit.>> You completely missed the point of my post. Of course smaller attractions are needed. That's obvious. But I said the Tiki Room and CBJ are not necessarily quintessential to the Disney experience. Not that the parks don't need A/B/C tickets. There could be a completely new show in both of their spots next time I'm there and as long as they were quality shows I'd be completely fine with it.

I know they're used for some of the song-and-dance stuff in the morning. But do guests ever ride them anymore?

I still think an updated Tiki Room or CBJ could still be enjoyable and relevant to today's audiences...if done right, of course!

I don't get to WDW as much as many on these boards do, so a little dose of nostalgia is perfect for me, which could be why I've always enjoyed the classic show attractions. I suppose if you go more often, you possibly become more jaded with the old, and I can understand that. But I'm certainly not against updating the older attractions as long as they stay within the spirit of why they were popular in the first place.

Keeping a tired attraction for nostalgia's sake means Disney is becoming a museum, something Walt definitely did not want. Bluntly, Walt would have closed the Tiki Room decades ago and done something new.

Of all the attractions that have opened in the past 10 years at WDW, I can only think of one that really "wowed" me, and that was Soarin'. And even that wasn't that much of a wow. WDI seems to have lost the ability to make great attractions, and I'm not sure who is to blame.

The feeling is if you invest in one park you can ride the publicity coattails for several years. In other words, you want to come see Soarin and they know you wont just do EPCOT so all the parks benefit from that one attraction.

We wouldn't be complaining about these things if they were actually kept up and kept updated.

Kept it interesting. No sense in making this a "What Would Walt Do", thread... ...While I like speculation about the future, to conjure up images of a alternative past, with Walt still around is just... beyond real serious thought.

But for the sake of the "nostalgia element", I'd think that general refurbishments, upgrades, new sequences would help rather than just ripping them out.
