Originally Posted By TALL Disney Guy <It is widely considered one of his least watchable.> Really? It's got high ratings at IMDB, and most of the people there seem to appreciate it a lot and enjoy it. I may prefer it to "Family Plot", which I saw last week. Like I said earlier, I found this one really intriguing mostly because of the weakening Phillip---I felt so bad for him (well, as bad as you can feel for a murderer)...but Brandon was too arrogant and smarmy for me to feel much sympathy for.

I think that being his last film. FP was really raked over the coals ebcause critics expected some ultimate statement about life by the aging director in his final film. But, of course, he had no idea it would be his final film. In fact, I think I read somewhere that he had another film planned and it would have come very near to having a rating higher (lower?) than R. But that's a whole other subject.

The only remotely interesting part in "Vertigo" for me were the end scenes---after I'd already wasted two hours sitting there, getting restless, changing positions on the couch, waiting for *something* to happen. Man...Jimmy Stewart was alright, but it was just one stinker of a "film" for me. I sure hope "Rear Window" won't let me down someday!

I'd read an essay or two about Vertigo, then watch it again, TDG. It's really a film for film school students when you think about it - the kind to watch after studying the concepts Hitchcock intended to express in the movie.
