    Truth be told.

As far as COP, I really am like "get up and help your wife". :) I know it was the 40's, 50's, etc. and that wouldn't have happened. But if the laundry is out on the line, and it starts raining - you actually CAN get up and help get it down. :-D

As I have said a number of times, it is needed for it's historic perspective. Back in those days that is how it worked. We don't like to think so but it did. Again, you need to see where you have been to get a clear picture of where you are going.

The can opener seemed to hum quite happily as I pulled on it's lever.

I don't remember the "iron my shirts" comment, I will have to see if I can find it online. I also don't like change for political correctness, so it's funny that this now is noticeable to me where it wasn't for nearly 40 years.

Because of appliances. But still, a subtext of the ride was how women had become liberated and were able to pursue the life they wanted.

It was actually feminist in a way, and funny, too.

But I'm sure the Incredibles will be nice........................

At least some of us have fond memories of the way things use to be. >>

The first number of times I was on this attraction, from the last theater you did indeed go up a moving ramp to another room ... where you witnessed a nuclear reactor and an explosion.

Did I mention that this was 1964-65 and CoP was still here in NYC BEFORE heading out to DL (where I saw it in 1968 and 1969, I did see America Sings when I next was in DL.)

I don't think GE, maker of nuclear power plants, would have as part of their show a nuclear power plant exploding.

Remember - an explosion is only "bad" if it is unexpected and uncontrolled. This was neither ... it was to show power. Scared the s**t out of me every time! (There were also lights popping all around when it happened. Very effective demo.)

Of all of the exhibits that came to fruition, the Carousel Theater was by far the fan-favorite. It is, in fact, often remembered as the G.E. pavilion. In reality, there were five different sections to the presentation, including Fusion on Earth and Electric Living - an on display electric community.

She is still doing all the work (sewing, painting, laundry, etc.).

I don't remember anything about nuclear, but I found this on Yesterland:

It was, and when you think of it's history, still is, pretty innovative.

To truly appreciate it you must think past the corny dialog and cheesy effects and back to just how ground breaking it really was. When you think that way it is still awe inspiring.
