Now if I see something Disney I will judge it for what its worth, not automatically giving it 2 thumbs up for being built by the mouse. For Example, I despise the Main Street Electrical Parade. You're right to say moderation is good -- but so is versatility and well-roundedness. The obsessives would never pass up the 876th ride on "Pirates" to do something different, unless the something different was buying limited edition "Pirates" merchandise.

You can be a Miami Heat freak, but there's only so much you can do when the season is over. You can be a Twilight fan, but there's a very limited amount of content out there. Even a franchise as 'huge' as Star Trek is still limited. Disney is VAST and growing all the time. And it controls so much because it is a media company ... it may own Mickey, Pooh, Kermit, Buzz, Nemo and Spidey ... but it also owns Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer too. To be obsessive over the Disney BRAND is to ... well ... I think you know my feelings on it. It isn't normal. And it isn't healthy. And Disney is milking it for all its worth.

It sounds like a bad substitution for a religion<<<< I would hope so, too. I mean, that's taking what it is to be a Disney fan and perverting it. I mean, who amongst us DOESN'T do those things? That's just taking it to a new level.

I mean, how much Disney can you have in your life? I mean, I get sick of it sometimes. I'm a bit sick of it now. I looked forward to a WDW trip for a few months, now it's over, and now I'm planning to hopefully go to a REAL destination, later in the summer. Disney is in the back seat. I'm still here for good conversation, though. ;-)

Not just about the little things that they really like, or a upcoming trip, but into EVERYTHING. That's a little odd. Don't there other things to peruse? There's no off season for Disney!

Here we all are obsessively discussing items that not only haven't happened yet, but even if they were happening we are powerless to prevent. In spite of the irony in all that, we are speaking in terms that tend to be judging folks other then ourselves. Oh, goodness some of those people are mentally ill. How can anyone get that obsessed about a cartoon mouse and his trail of associated entertainment. Yet we inexplicable tend to go on and on for hours concerned about how "mentally challenged" and sad these people have become. I know, from experience, how long it takes to create a semi-intelligent post. Tell me that people like, unnamed posters, can have the available time to spend literally hours posting and yet have you believe that they are probably the single most educated, connected and flat out busy person on the planet. It just doesn't add up my friends. Now I don't care if anyone has a social life (I personally have none) and I don't care if you spend 23 hours a day on the boards, stopping only for potty breaks and a bowl of Cheerios. Starting or suggesting a thread on whether or not a person that makes excuses for or ignores massive world altering problems within a theme park is a form of mental illness, is nothing short of mind boggling. Perhaps we should all go back to something we have even the slightest ability to analyze. So what do you think of that broken animatronic on Splash Mountain? The place has gone to hell in a hand basket don't you think? Hey, you know, last week, I was walking down Main Street in the evening. There were some really fun street shows going on, but I'm afraid that I was distracted because, can you believe this, out of 3 million lights outlining the buildings, I actually noticed that 4 of them were out. Damn cutbacks! The decline is palpable. I felt the overwhelming need to inform everyone of this decline, but now I must take a time out to go cry in my pillow.

You want to watch or go to the movies(from birth to adult) they have a movie for you. Sports, TV, Magazines, endless internet sites, blogs. And collectables forget it, I cannot even think of purchasing a vinylmation because with my OCD I will need all 50K of them. They are at the supermarket(love those disney eggs), every kind of clothing, child toys, auto accesories, they are ubiquitous. I have other obsessions but they are limited as far as exposure and availability. Except for possibly sports. As a baseball or football fan, there are also limitless ways to feed your enthusiasm and fandome.

Where is there a wide spread of people not self selecting (even subconsciously) what they consider Disney? I do not think films and parks constitute too wide of a fandom as they represent the traditional, Walt built fields of the Company.
