But some of the blame for this goes to the huge number of guests that pass through WDW gates each day that have absolutely no respect for anything. Keeping up with them would be difficult without budget cuts. My point is that anyone who thinks the parks were just as dirty before as they are now needs to think a little harder about their definition of clean vs dirty." Well put Minnie. WDW's bathrooms used to sparkle all the time and there would always be a CM in every one working to keep it that way. Now, most often at the Studios and MK, the restrooms aren't dirty. They are filthy. They are unacceptable.

And when I went back in and said, "I can't eat my hot dog because the catsup in the packets was rancid" all they said was "how Awful" No offer to replace the hot dog, nothing. I just threw it away and have never been back to eat there since.

They are usually released for a certain event.

So I don't buy the "there's a drought going on excuse". Disney has water, lots of it!<< Just proves that our conservation efforts are working.

I don't think Walt would have said ''fellas, let's just sell cheap pins and plush in every shop, to hell with the story we're trying to tell.''<< "The pins released do fit in with the story. They are usually released for a certain event." Work as a merchandising CM do you? There's no story whatsoever behind pins, beyond making obscene amounts of money on something that costs a few dimes to make (if that). Why don't you explain how turning the Frontierland Trading Post into a pin shop helps tell a story ... dying to hear that one. "Just proves that our conservation efforts are working." No. It just proves all the conservation tales are tall ones. PR spin. If Disney wanted to be a good corporate citizen maybe they'd stop bulldozing forests to build new hotels and timeshares.

Nope. Friends? Yes ... many past, some present. And I absolutely post with an agenda. Do you know what it is? I'll tell you ... it's for WDW to live up to the standards it conditioned me -- and tens of millions of guests -- to expect. The same standards it still proudly touts in its marketing, PR and press relations. When I see something that goes against Disney standards, I'll point it out no matter who gets ticked off by it. The winds are changing in Burbank and Anaheim. Quality matters again. Creativity is valued again. It'll take longer to reach our little backwater Orlando, but it will, I have no doubt. And I will do my best to hasten its return.
Originally Posted By LuvDatDisney "Another half truth. Most jobs are part time and do pay under $10 an hour." You just agreed with me. MOST jobs are PART time and DO pay UNDER $10 an hour. I never said all. I said WDW has turned Orlando into a service economy and that isn't a good thing. All it takes is a terrorist attack or natural disaster(s) or recession and all those rooms will sit collecting dust and all those part-time CMs will be living in their cars or on the streets. "But compare us with most employers in central Florida and you will find that we have the highest starting wage in the area." Maybe it's because I'm paid well, but I don't think having a starting wage that's a quarter more than Sea World is worth bragging about. "Also benefits for our full time Cast Members exceed anything offered by other employers in the Orlando area." This I agree with in full. But look at how many full-time positions have been replaced by part-timers and even outsourced off the company payroll. But there's no arguing that Disney's full-time benefits are still terrific.
