In another comment, things do get heated in WEs. It's part of the territory - we're talking politics and religion most of the time, for cryin' out loud! I've long enjoyed and admired SPP's (though I've never met him) posts because I can relate to him.

Others around here are just unflappable. I wish I could be like that, but I'm not. Dabob2 is brilliant and thoughtful and never makes it personal. Tip of the hat. SPP was downright reasonable when Beau called him a wife beater. My reaction would have most likely gotten me a lifetime ban.

But I see these differences between those of us who occasionally can be riled up and those who respond politely and happily at their mother being called a goat as largely personality differences. Most of the time people move on and forget about it.

Unfortunately, there's a few people on here who can't play nice. I think 2oony's advise of ignoring them is the key. I don't read Beau's posts or Ed's anymore and I'm much happier at WEs.

Finally, since this seems to be a fairly reflective thread, I owe DlDug an apology or two. A couple of my posts crossed, or perhaps pole vaulted over the line, and I'm sorry.

Typical of the left and their double standard that America sees on a daily basis.

When you people on the left actually prove me wrong then you can be taken sorta serious. If you want to call me a troll for constantly exposing you for who you are, go right ahead. If you want to get offended by me but praise people who take your world view, go right ahead. Again, the people who lurk see what is going on here.

In fact, it's this little dynamic that makes my side, the conservative side win in the end. Once the libs start calling you names like troll, you know they are toast.

But when you can't even produce a single thread you have started in this section in the last 2 YEARS that is pro America, pro militray, pro victory, or patriotic in any way I rest my case about you people. How pathetic is it that you guys who claim to be good Americans can't show us a SINGLE THREAD you started to prove me wrong.

I have been asking ( for years ), you liberals who get offended when I call you foolish to give me an example of a place or a time when your liberal views actually worked in real life. I get nothing but threads like this calling me a troll for asking questions like this.

Hold on... RoadTrip at least tried to tell us Sweden was a liberal utopia. Nice try I suppose, but he didn't bother to actually look at the socialist nightmare Sweden has become...but he tried.

Seems to me a troll isn't a guy who always proves his point and is usually right.

Take the upcoming elections. STPH has said the GOP is going to get crushed at the polls as he spouted some Michael Moore talking points. Well, once again he and his group will be wrong.

So now the people on here who can't answer any tough questions have decided to pretend they are so offended by me that they will just ignore me. I mean, that's one way to not answer why you guys can't give me a single pro-America thread you started and why your comments are the same as so many American foes.

What I will do since vbdad put up a good post is I will cut down on the name calling as I expose the left for who they are. I will stick to the facts as I always do and leave out the word idiot or moonbat or moron. I don't need to use those terms to get my point across, the other facts do it for me.

Apologies always accepted. (Are you sure you're not saying that just because it's my birthday?)

    >>I'd define a troll as one who isn't so much interested in being right or wrong as they are playing the game.<<
I certainly agree with that. And that is the reason I consider no one here a true Troll. Despite the fact that there are those who regularly cause so much heartburn, I do not believe that that is their sole intent.

Since this is a discussion of manners and modes, may I also suggest that another reason some here are unable to play nicely is because they fail to distinguish between conversation and debate? Not every topic here is a "right or wrong" proposition. By relentlessly insisting that there is only one view that must prevail, civil discourse quickly devolves into misunderstandings, slogans, and insults.

A case in point is the (dare I mention) Terri Schiavo case. Each side had good and valid points. But the my-way-or-the-highway approach made what should have been a straightforward conversation about a sensitive subject into nothing more than a schoolyard shouting match.

We may not always agree, but we should make a sincere effort to respect the opinions of others.

hand and George asks him his name.

    "Stanley," responds the little boy.

"And what is your question, Stanley?"

    "I have 4 questions:

First, why did the USA invade Iraq?

Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes?

Third, whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden?"

Fourth, why are we so worried about gay-marriage when 1/2 of all
    Americans don't have health insurance?

Just then, the bell rings for recess. George Bush informs the kiddies
that they will continue after recess.

When they resume George says, "OK, where were we? Oh, that's right,
question time. Who has a question?"

Another little boy puts up his hand. George points him out and asks

    "Steve," he responds.

"And what is your question, Steve?"

    "Actually, I have 6 questions.

First, why did the USA invade Iraq?

Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes?

Third, whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden?

Fourth, why are we so worried about gay marriage when 1/2 of all
    Americans don't have health insurance?

Fifth, why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early?

And sixth, what the hell happened to Stanley?"

A little joke? That's a long joke to reinforce fear values.

Nothing funny about it, it was too obvious, what would happen to the enquiring mind.

Of course this joke doesn't really exist in the computer age, and this is the main problem with republicans.

While everyone uses computers and communicates ideas constantly, the republican ignorant can only check email, and is afraid to leave main pages.

I guarantee you computers are not going to be controlled, since the possibilities of communication will always dwarf, a war criminals need to suppress information.

No secrets can be kept anymore, except with the outlay of enormous amounts of energy, synergy, cash, and confidence.

I haven't seen real trolls on laughing place. Most people have computers, and game boxes, so they don't have time to troll anymore.

Beau, trust me when I say this is the last time I'll bother to respond to you directly. I made it clear that I don't read Ed's posts either. You're both on opposite sides of the same pathetic fence.

So Beau, lemme spell it out for you: I'm not going to ignore you because you're conservative; I don't ignore dug, douglas, woody, etc. I'm just ignoring you. If you must know the reason, it's because you're a jerk Beau. It might get my post deleted but it's true. You're just a terrible person. At the end of the day, that's what counts. Politics, beliefs, etc. don't much matter. But what kind of human being you are does. Life is short, and you're just not worth my valuable time.
