Wow, talk about life imitating art...

I was obsessed with Narnia as a kid; Mr. Tumnus is one of my all-time favorite characters, and from what I can see, he looks perfect, just as I imagined. I'm also looking forward to seeing the display that they have at D/MGM next week when I'm down there.

Some of the effects and cgi didn't work. I thought like the Fox wasn't very realistic. And there were parts of the waterfall scene that came across as fake looking. And darn it I want more Minotaurs, those guys rocked. As for what worked, nearly everything else. Lucy meeting Tumnus. The beavers. The wolves. The Minotaurs charging into battle. Tilda Swinton is awesome as the White Witch. In fact I can't picture anyone else in the role. One thing if you're not familiar with the books don't go into this expecting Lord of the Rings. It was and never will be Lord of the Rings. But it is a terrfic film, well worth the wait and I think Disney and Walden Media should take a bow. I want more Minotaurs!!!!!

It will obviously be compared to LOTR and Harry Potter, but those are unfair comparisons, not because it's worse, but because it's not trying to be the same kind of film as those two. I'm not ashamed to say I cried in several places and curiously enough not when you would think. (I'm avoiding spoilers) In fact I probably cried through about half of it! Everyone who came out of the cinema seemed to love it too. I will say that some of the special effects weren't actually that special and there was the odd ropey bit of acting from the kids, but those are minor criticisms. Susan is my favorite character and as such I didn't have any problems connecting with her, but I can see how others might as she has the least to do. I can relate to Peter because although I'm not the eldest in my family, my siblings and I come in sets (3 kids then 7 year gap then another 3 kids) and I'm the eldest of that second group and therefore I understood how he felt throughout the movie. Especially when it comes to younger brothers. I never really saw that side to Peter until now. He always just came off as bossy to me, so that was interesting. All in all, I can't really fault it. It seems to have had mixed reviews, but I think that those reviewers who haven't been keen were expecting the pizazz of HP or the grand sense of scale from LOTR. This is much gentler, more simple picture. Whilst still in the fantasy setting it was as much about the relationships of the Pevensies and the simple truth that good will defeat evil. And above all else I think it's a film about hope. Oh, and POTC2 looks pretty darn special too!!!

I'm so glad this is most likely going to be a hit for Disney.

My sister told me a while back the producer (or director or somebody) was making *very* sure he got Susan's character right, because she was his favorite too. I love Anna Popplewell's look and her voice, so I cannot WAIT to see finally see "my Susan" on the big screen! :-D Yeah u k fan, we'll join the "Susan Forever!" club!
