They've already won a World Series and been there two out of the last 3 years. Not hitting against the best pitching staff in 2010 shouldn't classify them as chokers. The Mets of '07 and '08, now that's a bunch of chokers. The Phils are clearly the best team in baseball, but it won't be handed to them, just ask the Mariners that won 116 games in 2001. I've been looking forward to the Brewers series for a while, they've got a real good team. It was nice to see the Phillies take game 1 with Cole Hamels and essentially a AAA team, no Howard, Utley, or Rollins.

Originally Posted By Dabob2 Yeah, hard to say they've choked when they won the whole thing in '08, got to the Series but lost in 6 to a good Yankees team, then lost to an on-fire-pitching-staff last year. And all that was without the monstrous rotation they've assembled this year. I think they've got to be favored in any matchup this post-season. Doesn't mean they'll win; upsets happen. But not always because someone chokes. Sometimes the other team is just on fire. Exhibit A: the 2006 Cards, who finished 82-80 IIRC and weren't given much of a chance, but caught fire and won the whole enchilada.

I'm not saying the Phillies are not a good team, not by a long shot. I was freaked out when they went into the playoffs against the Giants last year but time after time I've seen their bats go quiet and their pitching be what gets them through even though everyone raves about them. LOL! Difference perspective I guess, what makes baseball so much fun. http://www.delcotimes.com/arti...ullstory

Their lineup was seriously flawed. The sentiment in the article was the prevailing thought and attitude of most fans after last year and up until the trade deadline. We all felt the lineup was too left-handed and would be susceptible to good pitching in the playoffs. But May seems like a lifetime has passed, especially after they traded for Hunter Pence. I don't think Ryan Howard saw one fastball over the plate all year until Pence arrived. His presence has kept opposing teams honest, they can't just keep sending out lefties, especially from the bullpen in later innings. Platooning Ibanez and Mayberry Jr in leftfield has also balanced out the lineup. After taking 3 out of 4 in Milwaukee, the Brewers are still the team I'd least like to face in the playoffs in either league. If the Phillies falter I think it'd be against them. Though if we have to face them I have one request, can they stick to one uniform? Over 4 games they wore 3 different uniforms and that yellow one was hideous. Whose idea was it to dress them up as lemon meringue pies?

And the black hole known as Casey McGee and Yunesky Bettencourt is killing this team. Especially McGee, Bettencourt is at least putting a bat on the ball, but McGee I assume an out every time he comes up.
