Well, we had a FABULOUS time. I’ve edited an email that my sister and I wrote about it so that it’s a) relevant to you guys (as opposed to Australians) and b) not toooo long. Actually, it’s still really long.

We drove down to the Gold Coast on Sunday and checked into the Sea World Resort, where we were given our tickets and told to wait for the bus that would take us to the premiere. We were surprised to see that the bus was full of the celebrities and media personalities as well as just us Plebs!

Oh, and for anyone who’s interested my sister wore a black dress with fishnets and patent leather shoes. I wore a black sparkly dress to the knees and high heels, and a sheer black jacket (as well as a teal velvet jacket in case the party was outside, which it wasn’t).

When we got to Movie World we strutted down the Red Carpet behind a pretty well-known model (Chloe Maxwell, who you guys have probably never heard of). She kept getting pulled over by the media though, and strangely we didn’t!

We got into the cinema and tucked into the free popcorn, soft drinks and Magnum ice creams. We were entertained by watching video footage of all the celebs getting interviewed on the red carpet while we waited – the movie was late because Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway’s plane was delayed due to bad weather in the US. They ended up having to get flown by helicopter from their hotel to the Gold Coast just to make it within half an hour of when it was meant to start! Steve and Anne, along with the director, did a bit of a speech before the movie started.

Anyway, everyone seemed to enjoy the movie and we laughed a fair bit. After the movie, we were taken to the VIP cocktail party in a room with hor d’uerves (I could look up the spelling, but eh) and champagne. Here, I got a photo with Melissa George! Not sure if you know her over there, but she got her start as a soapie star here and has since been in things like the Amityville Horrors and Alias. Anyway, she’s just gorgeous and was really lovely, despite my embarrassment at asking for a photo with her. I’m a big fan, though, and glad I did.

After that we were led into a large dining room, where we were greeted by a huge buffet complete with chocolate fountain (I’m a sucker for a chocolate fountain). We got some pictures of Anne and Steve as they watched the starting dance, a reenactment of the dancing scene from the movie with actors playing Steve and Anne.

We got some other photos with some actors and models. The girl at the next table was from the Australian soap “Neighboursâ€. Now, Neighbours is a show that’s watched more in the UK than Australia where it’s considered a bit daggy, but my sister is the most devoted and long-term Neighbours fan I’ve ever met. She actually TiVos it if she’s going out, which is pretty dedicated for a show that’s on 5 times a week! Anyway, halfway through the night my sister plucked up her courage to go and ask Natalie, the Neighbours actress, for a photo and was pleased by how lovely and down-to-earth she was. An hour or so later my sister and I were making our way back down the red carpet and got some photos of each other, and a voice behind us said “can I hop in with you?†It was Natalie, and she posed for several photos with us before walking down the red carpet with us (and her family), chatting like old friends! She then grabbed my sister’s camera and started getting some shots of the two of us, at which point my sister said “this is the first time we’ve had an actor taking photos of US!†She was so lovely, I’m considering watching Neighbours now … There was another Neighbours actor there, a middle-aged guy who was also really sweet, gave us kisses and cuddles and told my sister she couldn’t stop watching the show or he’d be out on the street and his kids would have to drop out of school!

Following the party, we had two fabulous days at the Sea World Resort (and did some more celeb-spotting the next morning at breakfast! Again, not sure if you know who Megan Gale, the model, is but her boyfriend, a comedian, was there and we were horribly disappointed that Megan had obviously opted for room service instead…) and an awesome day at Sea World itself.

Anyway, I should really stop prattling on now but we did have a great time, as I’m sure you can tell! We were slightly disappointed that we hadn’t got any better / closer photos of Steve and Anne, but with all the other things going on it really wasn’t a problem. I’ll try to get some photos online soon and share them!

I can only imagine what kaos would have occurred if The Rock had showed up...

A little belated, but I've finally put some photos up of the weekend for anyone who wants to see!

What does "a bit daggy" mean? How incredibly wonderful about that sweet actress and everyone else that made your experience so wonderful! Congratulations on such a happy time!

<<(my friend in marketing says to write a thank you, because she never gets thank you's for setting these type of things up!)>> Ursula, how do you know which person to send it to? I've sent thank you's before to like a radio station that I've won stuff from, but have never known to whom I should have specified.

Ursula - yup, I sent an email when I got home! :) I wasn't sure of the email address of the guy who organised it so I just sent it to a general address ... hopefully he'll get it ...

Heh heh ... I always forget not to talk "Australian". Uncool, basically! :)
