I would have liked for the editors to be a little less ADD, since a lot of the floats and performers were lost in the quick shots. I'm also a little sad that the hosts talked over the whole parade, so you never really got to hear the parade's music, which is always a highlight to me. It was great to be a part of it, but I don't know if I'll watch it again next year. Even with fastforwarding through all the commericals and promo spots, it was still pretty painful to watch. And I'll sign autographs any time you want. Just make sure you have a photo of me kissing a baby to make it even more valuable. : )

I'm the second trombone player that they show a close-up of, and then they show me again when we turn to condense the block into two lines. <a href="http://www.hulu.com/watch/117831/disney-parks-christmas-day-parade-disney-parks-christmas-day-parade-part-1" target="_blank">http://www.hulu.com/watch/1178...e-part-1</a>

I'm not a new fan of the blink-and-you'll-miss-it floats, nor the constant entertainment. Can someone confirm to me if the old parade was one hour long or two hours long?

I don't know about what it was a long time ago, but I've been watching some portion of it for the last 5 or 6 years, and it's been 2 hours for that whole time. I wouldn't be surprised if when it first started (and they showed only the WDW, and it was live) if it was an hour, or even less. It seems that they could have fit this year's parade parts in a condensed show that was less than 10 minutes long. For a show called "Disney Parks Christmas Parade", there wasn't very much Christmas parade going on. And as much as the celeb acts did get old, I liked how they weren't just in front of the castle this year. I thought it was clever how they had the PATF song in New Orleans Square, and Celine Dion in the Grand Floridian, and that random guy on the Main Street Cinema marquee. Not that it made me want to watch them much more (with the exception of the PATF one that was really well done, IMO), but it did break up the monotony that they've had in the past.

I'm old enough to remember the commercials for St. Kissimmee-St.Cloud, especially the one with the target and the arrows. In fact...that's the ONLY time you saw ads for that resort The article on Wiki also mentioned how the parade used to be shown live on Christmas...sigh... I remember the Country Bear Jamboree float, which had Big Al, Terrence/Shaker, LiverLips McGrowl and Wendell, the barnyard float with Clara Cluck, the riverboat float with the Brer Trio, an elaborate float for Alice and Pinocchio, the Babes in Toyland soldiers, the gingerbread men, the snowmen (and women), Raggedy Ann & Andy, and the reindeer with their tongues hanging out...

As for the footage, I spent 10 years as an Attractions Host at the park through the 80s and was involved in a number of filmings, and it is a pretty interesting process. Wasn't involved in any parade tapings, but the programs I was involved in were taped and when you saw the finished or edited project it would inevitably come out rather choppy and not include as much footage as it seemed it was during filming. There was a lot of that skipping around to different locations in the park.
