I just want to know how they do it. Personally I think the Guests are more in line all by themselves. I doubt that the CM's in Tokyo are going around bullying and threatening Guests into behaving. Maybe they're using the old teacher trick of standing really close to Guests behaving badly. That seems to discourage unruly behavior. But I just don't see there being a matter of CM's in Tokyo "keeping Guests in line" as much as I see a different Guest altogether.

I just want to know how they do it. >> Japan's culture existed in a closed society for centuries and these sorts of behaviors have been honed throughout that time. Japanese behavior is ingrained in the genetic code of their society. Very different than western civilizations during the same time period.

There are amazing cultural differences that most of us in the West see as negatives whereas they're really just differences. There is a whole field of Psychology dedicated to studying the differences in world cultures. It's not as easy as saying, "Well, they do things differently" as if somehow the way someone else does/sees/interprets things is just a skewed version of how we do. It's very complex and fascinating.
