It can let the standby line go faster when fastpasses wait until less busy nighttimes (depending on what the workers do.)

I thought we were having a debate and I was offering an opposing point of view. Your message sounds like it's dissing me for disagreeing. If I'm adding meaning that was wasn't there, my apologies. I wasn't complaining about pre-fastpass lines. Before fastpass, there was no alternative, so you dealt with it. And yes, we did get there early so we wouldn't have to wait in such long lines, but that only works for the first few hours. The beauty of fastpass is it lets you get a reserved time for mid-day (if you plan it right) when lines are the longest.

When I said “you,†it was more of a hypothetical person, so to speak, one who complains about pre-FP wait times...and I’ve heard many a complaint in the years I’ve been on these boards. So yes, there wasn’t any personal attack implied. But no sweat, misunderstandings happen all the time.

It's best for day visitors who have to squeeze in as much as possible into their days. But I think the reason fastpass is going away though is because they have more stuff to do in the park. With more attractions open you can get your money's worth without having to "double up" by riding other rides while waiting for a FP return time. In that respect FP was a great gimmick for increasing guest satisfaction without actually spending much money on say, new rides. As for people bemoaning the death of the themed queue...think about it. You're complaining about losing a line. That is so Southern California...people out here are so immersed in "line culture" that they dream of magical fantastical lines to wait in. Me, I'll take shorter lines and longer rides thanks.

To me, having FP is important because I feel it does save me time and during that time I do feel like I can go shop, or grab a bit to eat. I don't feel like as soon as I get off a ride, I need to go run to the next one, because I have to get it all in! To me, it let's me relax and use my time in a much more effective way.

Most APs I know know how to bleed the system to death and maximize it to its fullest potential. Day guests who seldom come to the park may have a basic knowledge of the system, but usually don’t know all the unadvertised loopholes which make FP much easier to use. To illustrate, I had family come in from Arizona last Summer to spend a couple days at DL. The first day they went about their day the best they could with the knowledge they had. The second day, I joined them and, as one who know the system well, taught them all the little tricks. They were astounded and were able to ride nearly TWICE the attractions on a comparably busy day. So, I don’t think most APs mind FP one bit.
