I really liked Alice but can understand why some people didn't care for it - but it was pure Burton magic - he is one of the few directors (with Chris Nolan) to really put his paw prints over a film. Raimi just isn't in that category - I still think he was lucky to have a great cast and phenomenal script on two of the Spider-Man movies (the third was absolute garbage) so I don't think he has the ability. Some of his camera angles were too gimicky for me by far.

The Batman Trilogy was okay, with one really good movie and the credit for that goes to the great Heath Ledger. Batman Begins was good, but I prefer Tim Burton's Batman. The Dark Knight Rises was a disappointment and the worst of the trilogy. Inception was very good and it is one of my favourite films. The Prestige is also a good movie, but nothing special. However better than the last Batman movie. Memento was great and until now I haven't seen Insomnia. For me Nolan is a good director, but not that special as many think he is. As for Sam Raimi, I don't know much about him, because I've only seen the Spider-Man trilogy. Part 3 was really bad, but I liked the first two.

He was the perfect con artist. ORWEN: And Michelle Williams was very sweet and innocent as Glinda. I think some people don't relate well, these days, to sweet, innocent characters so they write them off as being bland. What they don't see is the inner strength it takes to be so pure. That's a shame because it's the good characters that you're supposed to indentify with and support. I guess being evil is the 'in' thing for most people these days. ORDDU: And that certainly describes the two wicked witches to a 'T'. Both gave very credible performances and the entire movie left us spell bound. We're already anxious for the sequel!

Eliminate the chance of getting a 'single' or 'double', and only aim for home runs. When they're a hit, it's great; they create merchandise, park attractions, and spawn sequels. When they miss, they miss in the most spectacular way imaginable. And given that there will always be more misses than hits, it only seems smart to aim low some of the time and be surprised by the results.
